SNIS encourages its researchers and project leaders to share their scientific results with the wider public and a variety of audiences. As the field of Science Communication matures and starts hosting different types of actors - at the same time as public outreach becomes a hard criterion in the evaluation of academics' careers - we seek to inform our public about advances and debates, so as to open up possibilities for dissemination.
In this interview with Dr. Richard -Emmanuel Eastes (in French) , from Segallis, we find out about the main faultlines in science communication - scientific mediation versus popularisation - and what it takes to be an efficient communicator in this field.

The 2020 - 2021 SNIS IO stipend was granted to Ms.Krittika Uniyal and Ms. Shriya Patnaik, whose PhD research involves archival research in International Organisations in Geneva.
Here are the two research outlines
Shriya Patnaik explores the encounter between experiential accounts and international and national policy discourses in the case of stigmatized groups of women in India. To this end she develops an ethnographic and archival research, the latter through ILO and UN archives. During the SNIS IO Stipend she will be sieving through ILO’s archival collections.
Krittika Uniyal is a Ph.D. scholar at the research Hub for Environmental Governance and Territorial Development of the University of Geneva’s Institute for Environmental Sciences. In her research she is looking at the China’s Belt and Road Initiative (BRI) in Nepal. The BRI is attracting a lot of attention across the world, raising important scholarly questions concerning China’s relationship with its neighbors, China’s role in the international system, and the very understanding of the nature and evolution of the international system and international cooperation. In contributing answers to these concerns, her thesis will examine discourses of critique and justification concerning China’s BRI in the region.
