Kevin Levrone has revisited the controversial 1996 Mr. Olympia, revealing that one aspect of the contest never sat right with him. After winning the Arnold Classic earlier that year and defeating top contenders, Levrone believed he had earned the opportunity to be directly compared with reigning champion Dorian Yates on bodybuilding’s biggest stage.
According to Levrone, that comparison rarely happened during prejudging. He recalled repeatedly being kept away from Yates in the lineup, leading him to wonder whether politics played a role in the judging process. Levrone felt the fans deserved to see the two physiques stand side by side, especially given the momentum he carried into the Olympia season.
He also pointed to Yates’ torn biceps injury from 1994, noting that it never fully returned to normal. For Levrone, the lack of direct comparisons left unanswered questions about how the contest might have unfolded had the judges placed the two rivals next to each other more often.
Nearly three decades later, the 1996 Olympia remains one of bodybuilding’s most debated contests, with Levrone still believing he never received the head-to-head showdown he was hoping for.

Interviewer: "If Andrew Jacked comes back and says, 'Here's $200,000 upfront,' would you train him?"
Kamal Elgargni: "Just a second before anything, because I want to say the truth. When we flew from Dubai to Romania, he got me a business-class ticket. I don't want to act like, 'Oh, he did whatever he did.' We flew together in business class, and that's why I never asked for anything.
But back to your question: I would never, ever, ever go back, even if he gave me $1 million, because my heart is my heart. I'm done, and I wish him all the best, all the best. I swear to God, I would never go back.
The thing is, it's really hard to absorb or swallow when somebody treats me like this. If you don't get value for who you are, just move on and go somewhere else. Because I know my value, I know how much I'm worth, and I know who I am."

Bodybuilding legend Kai Greene believes modern bodybuilding has completely changed from the old days. According to Kai, champions no longer receive automatic respect just because they hold the Mr. Olympia title. In the past, reigning champions were expected to stay on top unless someone clearly dominated them. But today, judges are willing to move champions down quickly if another athlete looks better. Kai used Samson Dauda’s drop from first place to fourth as proof that the sport has entered a new era. He explained that today’s judging rewards performance on that specific night instead of protecting dynasties. Kai thinks this creates more excitement and pressure for competitors. Every champion now has to fight harder than ever because the title alone no longer guarantees success on the Olympia stage.

Fouad Abiad: “I don’t think either of these guys can beat Samson if Samson is at least 2024 condition or better. He just has too much. There’s too much muscle there. Seeing him on that Pittsburgh Pro stage, sitting 20 feet away, and then having him walk by me a couple of times while he was in the audience — the legs, it’s like he’s got 40-inch quads. The back, the back mass he’s put on, the arms look like they’re 25 inches, the chest protruding from his rib cage… this is Ronnie Coleman-level mass we’re talking about.”

Phil Heath once compared Kai Greene’s lower body size and density to some of the greatest physiques in bodybuilding history. While many fans associate legendary muscle density with Dorian Yates, Heath believed Kai’s massive quads and hanging hamstrings created a level of thickness that was almost unbelievable in person.
According to Heath, Kai looked enormous even during the off-season, joking that every oversized pair of pants he wore looked like tight leggings because of the sheer size of his legs. Kai’s lower body development became one of his signature traits and helped separate him from most competitors of his era.
Combined with his artistic posing style and extreme muscle fullness, Kai Greene built a physique that many fans still consider one of the most unique and intimidating in modern bodybuilding history.
