Carlo Ginzburg, one of the greatest historians of the twentieth century and a founding figure of microhistory, passed away this year.

Tomorrow (8 October), the Geneva Graduate Institute honours his memory on the occasion of the posthumous conferral of the Prix Nessim Habif.

The discussion will bring together historians and literary scholars to reflect on a body of work that fundamentally renewed historical practice.

Applications are now open for Ethical Leadership in International Affairs, a two-day, skills-focused course designed for mid- to senior-level professionals who want to sharpen their leadership practice.

The programme covers leadership at two levels: the individual dimension, exploring nonverbal dynamics, influence, and charisma, and the systemic dimension, applying systems thinking to navigate complex policy and diplomatic environments. Experienced trainers, peer exchange, and hands-on practice throughout.

Who holds power in the 21st century, and is diplomacy still capable of managing a changing world?

These are the questions that guided a two-day customised online training delivered by the Geneva Graduate Institute’s Executive Education team to a group of participants from across the region, as part of the fifth edition of the Young Arab Diplomatic Leaders (YADL) Programme, in partnership with the Arab Youth Center.

Led by researchers from the Center on Conflict, Development and Peacebuilding (CCDP), the sessions explored how power is being reshaped beyond traditional military and economic capabilities, and how diplomacy is adapting to contemporary conflicts, new actors, and new tools.

🎥 What did 20 students from China take away from their time in Geneva?

Following our custom executive course on United Nations and Global Governance at Villa Barton, participants share their experience in their own words. They talk about what it meant to see global governance up close: visiting international organisations, and even going on a hike and seeing how the big questions of our time connect to everyday life.

Professor Chen Yanyan from South China University of Technology expressed her hope to strengthen our collaboration, and promised she'll be back!
