Seating arrangements - Royal Aspects from long time ago up to nowadays.
At most formal dinners the host is seated at the center of the table while the most important guests are seated on his/her right. The rest of the guests are seated according to the precedence. The higher the rank, the closer to the host. There is only one exception in such seating arrangements - if the guest is a Royalty, like her Majesty the Queen, she takes the host’s place in the center of the table and the host is seated to her right.

Оставшиеся гости рассаживаются согласно старшинству/рангу, чем выше ранг, тем ближе к хозяину. Существует всего одно исключение рассадки, если гость из королевской семьи, например, Ее Величество королева ( в данном случае, пример - королеве Англии), то центральное место занимает она, а хозяин садится справа от неё.

It is not something related to etiquette, it comes from the history. The inventor of Earl Grey tea, the Earl Grey himself, simply suffered from lactose intolerance and his butler served his tea only with a slice of lemon and some bergamot. That’s where the tradition to take Earl Grey tea without milk starts.

What does etiquette mean? Today’s etiquette started in the French royal court in the 17th century. The word used to mean “keep off the grass”. When the palace gardener discovered that people walked on the grass in the garden of the king, he put up signs or “etiquets”to warn them to stay away from the grass. Gradually, the meaning of the word “etiquette “ expanded and included the list of rules what to do and how to behave. The meaning of this word also evolved with times.

Что такое этикет? Сегодняшний этикет зародился во французском королевском дворе 17-го века. Раньше слово «этикет» означало «не ходить по траве». Когда дворцовый садовник обнаружил, что люди ходят по траве в саду короля, он повесил знаки или «этикетки», чтобы предупредить их, чтобы они держались подальше от травы. King Louis IVX of France was a big fan of throwing parties and banquets but he didn’t have enough staff to do it so he would take his gardeners, outdoor workers and bring them inside to serve food. But because their hands were quite rough , he would put gloves on them so that his guests would not see them. Nowadays, white glove service is used at high-end events and functions.

Король Франции Луи IVX очень любил устраивать вечеринки и банкеты, но у него попросту не хватало людей обслуживать такие мероприятия. Поэтому он брал садовников и других уличных работников в качестве обслуги, но так как их руки были неухоженные и грубые, а гости короля бы это заметили, он надел на них белые перчатки. В наши дни «сервис белых перчаток» применяют, в основном, только на мероприятиях высокого уровня.
