Confirmation Bias: This bad thing happened to me when I tried this thing one time and so I am sure that was the reason the bad thing happened.
Cherry Picking Data and Studies (even if they are flawed, outdated or you read the results of the study incorrectly)- there was a study showing xyz… and so boom- there ya go.
Bandwagon Fallacy: everyone’s doing it and they seem fine so it can’t be that bad or - it must work!
Respect yourself and check yourself! Listen to the good scientists and if you made a mistake, admit it and correct it.
I get it. It’s not fun to restrict your calories and push yourself in the gym. Okay, for some people it is fun. But for most of us, It’s not.
If its tough, doesn’t mean you shouldn’t t do it.
DOING Hard things builds us UP and makes us better. Stronger. More resilient and yes, smarter. Pushing up hard against the thing that our brain is telling us could be hard and uncomfortable means we are REWIRING. MOVING. SHIFTING. GROWING.
We do not live in caves. There are no saber toothed tigers awaiting us out there. We are safe and capable of expanding.
And I will say it. If you are overweight and want to get to a healthier body weight, you will need to restrict the amount of calories you eat. Period. How and what type of calories is not as important. But certain types of calories will indeed make the whole process a lot more enjoyable and sustainable.
Diet soda can help. A lot.
If you are pre-diabetic or diabetic, your blood sugar matters. If you are metabolically healthy, sugar and carbs do not prevent you from losing weight as long as you are maintaining a calorie deficit.
