What a wonderful way to start our 25th anniversary alumni stories.

Last week, we welcomed former ISR students Miu and Iris, almost 20 years after they first met here as young children.

Miu now lives and works in public relations in Nagoya, Japan, while Iris works as an architect in Zurich.

Their friendship began during their Kindergarten and Primary School years at ISR and has continued across countries, continents and all the years in between. 🌍

There were plenty of memories to rediscover, including Iris’s Grade 1 class book from 2007 and photos from our former school building.

And then came a wonderful surprise: walking through the hallway, they spotted Mr Steve Bavaro, “the man with the guitar”, and recognised him immediately!

We loved having Miu and Iris back at ISR and are excited to share some of their memories with you.

The Duke of Edinburgh’s International Award Journey

Beyond the classroom, our students are challenging themselves, building resilience and creating experiences that will stay with them for years to come.

The Duke of Edinburgh’s International Award is a globally recognised programme that encourages young people to develop valuable skills, independence and confidence while demonstrating commitment, initiative and personal growth.

Recently, our Award participants put these qualities to the test during their Adventurous Journey at Walensee.

Our Bronze participants covered approximately 41 km over two days, while our Silver participants took on an impressive 60 km over three days — all while navigating challenging terrain, working together and pushing beyond their comfort zones.

From teamwork and perseverance to resilience and determination, this was a true demonstration of learning beyond the classroom.

Congratulations to all our students on this fantastic achievement!

Meet Luigi Rizzo!

We’re delighted to have him join us as our new bus driver.

🇮🇹 Originally from the Milan area, Luigi moved to Switzerland with his wife in 2021.

🌍 Curious about different places, cultures and people, Luigi believes every person and culture has something unique to offer.

❤️ Luigi is a proud father and grandfather, with family playing an important role in his life.

💡 Luigi describes himself as someone who stays open to new experiences and always looks for the positive side of things.

🤝 He especially values ISR’s diversity, openness and ability to look beyond differences.

🌱 Luigi hopes to contribute to our community while embracing the spirit of global citizenship and lifelong learning.

Yesterday marked the beginning of ISR’s 25th school year!

A lot has changed over the years, and our community has grown significantly, but our mission remains the same: to help every student reach their full potential while fostering international-mindedness, empathy, and a lifelong love of learning.

We have an exciting year ahead, and we are delighted to welcome so many new members to our community, while also seeing so many familiar faces return. Here’s to another year of learning, growth, connection, and new opportunities at ISR!

Welcome to ISR, Owen Murphy! 👋

Owen Murphy has officially started his first week as ISR's new Director, and we're delighted to welcome him to our community.

This week has been all about meeting colleagues, getting to know our school, and experiencing the welcoming spirit that makes ISR so special.

With the release of the IB results, we want to celebrate the Class of 2026 once more.

Whether you began your journey at ISR in Kindergarten or joined our community somewhere along the way, each of you has helped shape our school in a unique way. We have watched you grow into confident, compassionate, and internationally minded young adults, ready to make a difference wherever life takes you.

Your journey has not always been easy, but through challenges and setbacks, all of you demonstrated resilience and perseverance. These qualities, together with the knowledge and global perspective you have gained through the IB Diploma, will open doors to exciting opportunities around the world.

As you take your next steps, remember that your achievements are about far more than results. They reflect years of hard work, personal growth, meaningful friendships, and the determination to keep moving forward.

Be proud of everything you have accomplished, support one another as you begin this new chapter, and know that the ISR community will always be cheering you on.

The 2025/26 school year was filled with unforgettable moments, exciting opportunities, new friendships, and countless memories, and we are so grateful to have shared them with such a wonderful community.

Throughout the year, members of our community had the chance to discover new interests, showcase their talents, and create experiences that will be remembered for years to come. Whether in the classroom, on stage, on the field, or during special events, it has been inspiring to see everyone grow, support one another, and make the most of every opportunity.

A huge thank you to our students, staff, and families for making this year so special!

We wish everyone a fantastic summer filled with rest, adventure, and plenty of sunshine. We can’t wait to welcome you all back in August and look forward to meeting many new faces as we begin another exciting year together. See you soon!

🌿 We are delighted to share that ISR has been awarded the Green Flag Eco-Schools Award!

This achievement reflects our school's ongoing commitment to sustainability and environmental responsibility. It has been a long journey, made possible through the dedication, enthusiasm, and hard work of so many members of our community.

A huge thank you to all the students of the Eco Council and the teachers who contributed their time, energy, and ideas throughout the project.

Some of our students recently had the exciting opportunity to visit the Setra factory, where they gained a behind-the-scenes look at the design and production process of our upcoming new school bus.

The trip included an informative presentation and a guided tour, giving students valuable insight into engineering, manufacturing, and the many stages involved in bringing a vehicle from concept to reality. It was an excellent hands-on learning experience and a chance to see innovation in action.

We are thrilled about the introduction of the new bus, which will strengthen the connection between Chur and Buchs and help further expand the reach of our school community.

The new bus will be ready in time for the start of the next school year, and more information can be found on our website.

A big thank you to the trip organisers and chaperones, as well as the Setra team, for their warm welcome and excellent ex*****on of this memorable experience!
