From engaging lessons and exciting events to memorable trips and new experiences, the start of the 2026/27 school year has been filled with opportunities to learn, connect, and grow together.

We’ve also had the pleasure of welcoming many new faces into our community, making our school family even more diverse and vibrant.

This year is particularly special as we celebrate 25 years of ISR, a milestone that reflects learning, growth, and community. We can’t wait to see what the rest of the school year has in store!

As we head into the October break, we wish our entire ISR community a peaceful, relaxing, and well-deserved holiday. Take this time to recharge, enjoy new adventures, and spend quality time with family and friends.

At ISR, we recognise the value of learning beyond the classroom. Whether it’s discovering something new during a museum visit, exploring a new city, or experiencing a different culture together, school trips give our students the opportunity to learn in new and exciting ways.

Trips are also a wonderful opportunity for students to get to know one another outside the classroom, strengthen friendships, and build meaningful connections within their classes.

These shared experiences help create a strong sense of belonging and contribute to the welcoming, connected community that makes ISR special.

Today marks World Teachers’ Day, a day established by UNESCO to celebrate educators and the incredible impact they have on future generations.

At ISR, we’re proud to have teachers from all around the world, each with their own stories, experiences, and perspectives, but with one shared goal: to inspire, support, and guide our students.

From the classroom to extracurriculars like MUN and Campus Shuffle, our teachers go above and beyond to support every student and help our community thrive.

Today, we celebrate and thank our teachers for their dedication, passion, and all they do for ISR.

Happy World Teachers’ Day!

🌟 What a show! 🌟

Yesterday's ISR PYP Talent Show showcased an amazing variety of skills on stage!

We enjoyed nine fantastic performances, from music and magic to cultural dances and artistic performances.

And we can tell you one thing: you would not have wanted the job of choosing a winner!

Because in true ISR spirit, every child who stepped onto that stage was already a winner.

It wasn’t about perfection. It was about having the courage to step forward, share something you love and celebrate each child’s individual journey.

We were incredibly impressed by every single one of you.

Be proud of yourselves. We certainly are! 👏✨

A huge THANK YOU to our wonderful parents for making the Talent Show possible and giving so many hours to create this special experience.

Celebrating Global Citizenship

As we celebrate 25 years of ISR, we’re also celebrating the core values that have shaped our community and will continue to guide us into the future.

One of these values is Global Citizenship: being open-minded, curious, and respectful of different cultures, beliefs, perspectives, and ideas.

At ISR, we encourage our students to look beyond their own experiences, engage with different perspectives, and develop a deeper understanding of the world around them, both in the classroom and in everyday life.

By learning from one another and embracing our differences, we can work together towards a more inclusive, equitable, and peaceful future.

Here’s to continuing this journey together!

More moments from our annual Peace Day celebration!

Here are a few more pictures from a meaningful day that brought the entire ISR community together to reflect on the importance of peace, respect and community.

Peace Day provided an opportunity for our students, teachers and staff to come together, share ideas and consider the role each of us can play in creating a more peaceful and inclusive world. It was a wonderful reminder that building a stronger community starts with small actions, mutual understanding and respect for one another.

This year’s UN theme, “Invest in Peace – For Everyone, Everywhere, Every Day,” highlights the importance of making peace a shared and ongoing commitment. At ISR, we are proud to encourage our students to think globally, act responsibly and recognise that each of us has a role to play in shaping a better future.

Thank you to everyone who helped make this year’s Peace Day celebration so special!

Peace Day at ISR – then and now

The 2026 UN theme for the International Day of Peace, “Invest in Peace – For Everyone, Everywhere, Every Day,” reminds us that peace begins with all of us.

In our classrooms, our communities and in the way we listen to, respect and support one another.

As we celebrate 25 years of ISR, we looked back through some of our old yearbooks and found these wonderful Peace Day memories. Different years, different students, but a message that has remained important throughout our school’s story.

Celebrating 8 Years at ISR!

This week, we’re shining the spotlight on Andrew Shawcroft, who is celebrating eight years as part of the ISR community!

Originally from Beaverton, Oregon (Go Beaves! 🦫), Andrew joined ISR in August 2018 after moving to Austria. While Austria is now home, he still enjoys returning to Christmas Valley, where his teaching journey began.

Over the years, Andrew has taught students from Grade 6 through Grade 12, finding great joy in watching them grow, overcome challenges and discover their place in the world.

For Andrew, one of the most special things about ISR is its strong sense of community and the lasting relationships built along the way.

Thank you for being a part of our Community!

Learning, connection & mountain views!

Last week, our Diploma students and teachers headed to Wildhaus for their annual Retreat.

The Retreat was all about getting to grips with the IB Core and preparing for the journey ahead. Students took part in dedicated sessions on the Extended Essay (EE), Theory of Knowledge (TOK) and Creativity, Activity, Service (CAS), alongside workshops on university planning, AI integration and wellbeing.

And, of course, it wasn’t all workshops! Between sessions, students and teachers connected through team-building activities, games and plenty of friendly competition.

A great start to another year of learning, growth and making memories.
