EGSIEM consists of 8 partners and the has been awarded under the European Union's Horizon 2020 funding scheme.

This project has received funding from the EU’s Horizon 2020 research and innovation programme under grant agreement No 637010, and is supported by the Swiss State Secretariat for Education, Research and Innovation (SERI) under contract number 15.0032. Earth Observation (EO) satellites yield a wealth of data for scientific, operational and commercial exploitation, however the current information is slow and does not contain information on the redistribution of environmental mass. The EGSIEM (European Gravity Service for Improved Emergency Management) project will demonstrate that through supplying information quicker and in a standardised format mass redistribution
products will open the door for innovative approaches to flood and drought monitoring and forecast. The research project is scheduled to last three years (beginning in January 2015) and will provide the following outcome;
1) a scientific combination service
2) a near real-time service
3) a hydrological/early warning service.

Update on the status of the GRACE mission. Let's hope for some more data in October...

With one of its twin satellites almost out of fuel after 15 years measuring Earth's gravity field, the U.S./German GRACE mission is making plans for a final science collection.
