FAMO Fascia Movement is more than what we do on the mat. To describe the illusive ‘more’, a tensegrity model can be applied not just to the fascial system but the Essential Self.
For a shared understanding of somatic tensegrity, it consists of discontinuous elements (bones) that are suspended in a continuous, non-linear tensile network (fascia), without touching each other (joint spaces). Embedded in the tensile network are actively contractile ‘tension-tuners’ (muscles). Therefore, local change creates a system-wide response. In other words: a shift in one part of the body affects the whole.
Working holistically, we can consider 5 elements in the body-mind tensegrity:
🦴 Your physical self — your body and movement
🧠 Your minded self — your thoughts and attention
🫀 Your feeling self — your physical sensations and emotions
🤝 Your relational self — your experience of connection with other living beings
🌟 Your spiritual self — your access to your inner compass, your North Star
Change in one part of your body-mind tensegrity influences all the others. The way you move affects how you feel. Your feelings colour your thoughts. Your relationships shape your inner dialogue. Your sense of purpose contributes to the experience of your physical state. And so on.
If this sounds radical — it is not. It is ancient wisdom, visualised through a modern model.

Sydney friends, FAMO is flying your way!
The talented FAMO Educator Paola Raffinetti is teaching an in-person workshop dedicated to movement professionals, Pilates teachers, and manual therapists who want to expand their skills and support their students in new ways:
🌟 Unwinding the Core 🌟
✅ 2.5 Professional Development Points approved by Pilates Association Australia
Two dates available:
14 June 2026
📍Zentrum Pilates, Castle Hill
9:30 AM - 12:00 PM
28 June 2026
📍Movement Collective, Surry Hills
10:00 AM - 12:30 PM
Why join—in Paola’s words:
At the centre of the body-wide myofascial core, aka the Deep Front Line, 3 myofascial slings connect the legs and spine, hip joint movement and breath, doing and being. The psoas major lies in the middle, while iliacus and quadratus lumborum form the outside track, and pectineus and psoas minor the inside. With confident serenity, these myofascial meridians enable you to be uplifted from within, let you move forward with ease, and vitalise your innerness with every breath you take.
Unwinding the Core stands for releasing restrictive structural patterns while softening, nourishing, and invigorating muscles and fascia.

A model is not a replica of reality. As George Box famously said: “All models are wrong — but some are useful.” The point is not whether a model is 100% true — the point is whether it is illuminating and practically valuable.
In FAMO Fascia Movement, we work with two such models: the Anatomy Trains body map and fascia as a system. Both are exceptionally useful and deeply illuminating.

Joy is more than just a good feeling after a workout. It is a surge of energy, presence and vitality. 🌟
When we let joy spread within, everything changes. We experience how movement becomes a holistic practice and feel how tension releases, leaving us feeling softer and more alive at the same time. Not because everything suddenly turned perfect, but because we are rooted in a deep connection with our inner self and the present moment.
✨ And often, this place of self-awareness becomes a fertile ground to connect to others, too.
🫂 When we move together, something special emerges, because we feel rhythms in unison, share connection via our breaths, and experience the distinct feeling of being part of something bigger.
Movement becomes a shared experience, carried by mindfulness, trust and presence. It reminds us that we are not alone.
