🏆 What a Sports Day! 🏃‍♀️🏹

What a hugely exciting ELABasel Year 3–7 Sports Day we enjoyed this week! The children competed in a wide range of events, including sprints, hurdles and the ever-exciting relay races, battling it out for valuable points for their Houses.

🏆 And the winning House was… House Compassio! 🎉

It wasn’t just the children getting involved! Our parents joined the fun too, taking their best shots at archery and providing plenty of entertainment in the parent races — especially when they took to the track in some fantastic inflatable costumes! 😂

More than just a sporting event, Sports Day is always a wonderful community occasion, bringing children, parents and staff together and creating one of the highlights of the school year.

A huge thank you to our Sports Coordinator, Jonas Müller, for organising such a fantastic event, and to every member of staff who helped make it another great success. 👏

🎶 Making Music at ELABasel! 🎶

Our Year 4–6 primary students have been wasting no time developing their music skills with the help of their teacher, Luke Davies! 🎵

From exploring rhythm and pulse in Year 4 🥁, to building pop songs in Year 5 🎤 and discovering how music can make special occasions memorable in Year 6 🎶, our students are already singing, performing, composing, improvising and experimenting with a wide range of instruments.

Music is an important part of life at ELABasel, and all of our primary students learn to play an instrument – whether tuned or untuned – from ukulele and piano to percussion and beyond. 🎸🎹🥁

It’s fantastic to see our young musicians developing their confidence, creativity, listening skills and teamwork while, most importantly, having fun making music together! 🌟🎼

🎨 Year 3: A Collaborative Work of Art! 🐦

This week, Year 3’s Art has been closely connected to their English learning as the children worked together to create a beautiful class kingfisher.

The artwork was made up of 32 individual sections, with each child creating two pieces. When brought together, the sections formed one stunning, colourful kingfisher!

A wonderful example of how individual creativity can come together to create something truly special. 🌈🎨

It is incredibly inspiring to see our Year 9 students and our Secondary School now up and running! 🌟

Our Year 9 students are already proving to be an inspirational group and have wasted no time getting down to work.

🇫🇷 So, what have our students been doing in French since the start of the new term?

The Year 9 Intermediate French group has made a fantastic start, revisiting their prior knowledge through activities such as Tout sur moi (“Everything about me”). Students presented themselves in French, talking about their hobbies, family and what they enjoy at school – and it was wonderful to see them confidently speaking in front of their classmates.

They have also written postcards about their summer holidays, working through drafts, receiving feedback and producing polished final versions. ✍️

The group has also had its first French library session, taking home a French book each week to build confidence in reading and understanding French sounds.

There is a fantastic atmosphere within the group, with a clear desire to learn, improve and challenge themselves. We are excited to see what this talented group achieves! 🇫🇷👏

Well done, Year 9 Intermediate French!

🌟 Reception are settling in brilliantly! 🏫💛

It has been wonderful to see our Reception children settling so happily into their new school building! They’ve been making new friends, getting to know their new surroundings and, of course, exploring our wonderful playground. 🌳🛝

Sharing the playground with our Early Years children means that many of our Reception pupils will already be familiar with this special space – making the transition into their new school even more exciting and familiar. 😊

And in between all the fun and exploring, there’s been plenty of all-important learning too! 📚✨ The children have been getting stuck into Maths, English, German, PE and so many other exciting subjects as they begin their Reception journey.

What a fantastic start! We can’t wait to see all the learning, friendships and adventures that lie ahead. 🚀🌈
