Dear physical education community, dear Burner friends and games addicts

Since a few months I am back to Burner Life with well dosed activity. One fact before everything: Bringing the joy of movement into the life of others is still my greatest passion and the one and only vision of my life. The feedback from my first activities was so warm hearted and encouraging to contribute building back big parts of confidence and routine. I love being there and teach the things I believe in with all my heart. Thank you DSBG Universität Basel, Hep Bejune, Primarschule Greifensee and Akademischer Sportverband Zürich for giving me that chance.

On the other hand there is the fact that my brain issue sometimes makes me feel like an old iPhone: looking like brand new and basically capable of doing just anything. But it often feels like running 200 apps at the same time. To keep focused costs me so much energy in each second of presence. Then, battery is low after 1 hour at the latest. If I don’t recharge within short time, I am served tinnitus, dizzyness, various pain issues and massive fatigue. Which does not mean I am able to sleep. It feels more like a huge stress coma. After longer courses it takes several days to recover.

Various doctors and therapists are still working to support me and trying to minimize the issue, thank you Rennbahnklinik for never giving up within the last 7 years, facing the fact this task has never been easy and still isn`t. And a huge thank you to my family, my partner Marco Obrist and the Burner Motion Team Lukas Zahner Christian Rosenberger Alain Kropf and our close partners. I wouldn`t have made it until here without your continuous support.

To cut it short - My engine feels like a shocked system facing 500 open tasks.
But the important thing is - it’s still running, that system. And it knows the path. So just goooo!! The world is ready to burn and I want the hell to join!🔥🔥🔥

Next stop: SVSS ASEP ASEF Polysportwoche Davos!

Big hug Muriel

Play, move, enjoy your body and have fun.

Remember each human being is talented for sports. Soccer might not be for everyone, but that’s not something that should make you worry. As a PE teacher, it is super important to offer a bunch of different activities. The goal is that each person in class discovers their passion. That everyone, no matter of body constitution or state of mind, will love to feel the thrill and joy of being active.

Regardless of my passion for balls I discovered fencing a few years ago. It was love at first sight when I joined maitre Beckmanns class as a young student at university of Basel. I discovered a completely new situation of competition, a different fight pace. The psychological challenge to get really close to the opponent. I was fascinated and dedicated to find a way to bring that cool experience into PE classes.

We tested a lot of variations to get that fencing weapon adapted to PE classes and fantasy games, to have a sports material which is light, soft and fast. It took us years, but we still love the impact our Gladiators Bats have on each person who touches them. It’s magic. Thank you maitre Beckmann, martial arts expert and all the students who helped to develop that cool tool. And thank you to make the PE book series Burner Motion happen! You rock! 🔥🔥🔥

Being a team, explore, exchange and grow - that`s what life is all about.
So happy to see the new generation of future PE teachers and coaches at DSBG University of Basel bringing their inspiration into action in the Burner Games course edition 2026!

And so happy to see Gilles Durand coming back on stage after a longer trip around the world. He finished the very same course himself in 2017 and stayed in the Burner Motion Team as an instructor, for 9 years yet. His super special game ideas brought a total new twist into the Burner Games community.

Last week we all came together and celebrated classic and new Burner Games. It’s so good to know there are so inspiring, strong and kind young people who will carry on the tradition of creative PE teaching onto the next level!

Looking forward to to each class we can share.

A huge thanks to Ayako, my Ballet and Life Teacher

Ayako was so much more than a ballet teacher for me. There are no words to describe how important she was (and still is) for me to find my way back to life.

Back in 2023 we first met in a small Ballet Studio in Pratteln. I was a sad grey shadow of myself at the time, desperately trying to recover from that stroke and fighting very difficult life conditions at the same time. I knew Ayako from her time as a soloist dancer at Theater Basel and was full of admiration for her way she used to dance. It was more than performance. She lived dance, such as I lived games. I knew when I first met her that I have found a soulmate.

My struggle with life seemed endless. I stayed in a clinic for months, Ayako did not give up on me and teached me privates at the weekend. She collected all the broken parts of my soul and helped me to set them back together. It took a lot of attempts. I went through the darkest time of my life, and for months, it seemed that I wouldn’t ever progress at all. Ayako did not give up. She stayed by my side and kept me working, day by day. „Don’t think too much“, she used to say. „Just go to class. Do the work. One day everything will fall in the right place“.

Each time I broke down, I remembered her words. I kept showing up for class. I noted her feedbacks. Practiced the small things, each day. Managed after a long time to shift my life focus a little bit. To not only chase the future, but live the moment. That was the moment I started to dance again. And to live again.

Thank you Ayako for being my friend and my teacher. I am so happy we can share a good time now and look into a bright future. Still chasing perfection each of us, but also enjoying the moment and being happy for everything we achieved. Let’s just move on and bring our visions to life.

Big hug and Love, Muriel
