❄️🐻 Bringing a Story to Life

A favourite book can become the starting point for so much more. After exploring Snow Bear, the children took the story beyond the pages through painting, sensory play and hands-on discovery.

Revisiting ideas in different ways helps children deepen their understanding, develop new vocabulary and make connections through play — all while keeping the story very much alive. 📖✨

A lovely way to bring our current theme to a close before the autumn holiday. 🍂

Our Bear Café was the final part of a very special project for the children. ☕️🥐🧁

In the lead-up to the café, the Bears were involved every step of the way — choosing what to serve 🍪, creating their menus ✏️📋, going shopping for the ingredients 🛒🥚🍎 and baking the food themselves 👩‍🍳👨‍🍳🧁.

On café day, they proudly welcomed their families ❤️, took orders 📝, served the food 🍰☕️ and handled the money 💰. It was wonderful to see all their preparation come together in such a meaningful way. 🌟

The money raised from the Bear Café will now be donated to a good cause chosen by the children themselves. 💛🤝

🎭✨ When Play Has No Instructions

A cardboard box, a few pots and pans, a small wooden space — and suddenly the possibilities are endless.

Imaginative play gives children the freedom to turn everyday materials into something entirely their own. As they create, pretend and play together, they are building language, confidence, cooperation and problem-solving skills along the way. 💭🌱

Sometimes the simplest resources inspire the richest play.

🐻🌿 Learning Beyond the Classroom

As part of our current Animals theme, the children have been taking their learning beyond the classroom with visits to Tierpark Goldau. From watching bears at play to observing wild boar, deer, geese and other animals up close, there were plenty of opportunities to stop, notice, ask questions and make connections with what they have been exploring at school. 🐗🦌🪿

These first-hand experiences bring learning to life — encouraging curiosity, conversation and a deeper understanding of the natural world. 🌲✨

🚦👮‍♀️ Road Safety for Our Bears 🐻

Our Kindergarten Bears welcomed the Zug Police for their annual road safety visit — an important part of preparing the children to become more confident and aware when out and about.

The session began in the classroom, where the children discussed traffic, road signs and how to cross safely, before heading outside to put their new skills into practice at real crossings. 🚶‍♀️🚦

It is always wonderful to see how proud the children are when they master these important life skills. A big thank you to the Zug Police for this valuable initiative and for making the experience so engaging for the children. 💛

🍲🥖 More Than Just Lunchtime at Stepping Stones

Mealtimes are an important part of our daily routine — a time to enjoy nutritious food together, try different tastes, and grow in independence. 🥄✨

Our lunches are provided by Menu and More, specialists in meals for young children. One firm favourite is our soup day, served with fresh bread, cold cuts, cheeses, and plenty of fresh vegetable crudités. 🥕🥒🧀

Around the table, children are encouraged to try new foods, manage their own meal, and enjoy conversation together — all part of building healthy habits and confidence. 💛

💛 Finding Our Place at Stepping Stones

As our second week comes to an end, the children are becoming increasingly familiar with their new groups, teachers and daily routines. New friendships are beginning to form, favourite spaces are being discovered, and Stepping Stones is starting to feel like a place where they belong. 🌱

Settling looks different for every child. Some are ready to explore straight away, while others need a reassuring hand, a familiar routine or simply a little more time. Our teachers are there for all of those moments, helping each child feel secure, confident and part of their group.

Two weeks in, and the new school year is already beginning to find its rhythm. ✨

🌧️ Rainy Day Play at Stepping Stones 🌿

A rainy day simply brings a different kind of outdoor play. With waterproofs and wellies on, the children made the most of the puddles, mud and open-ended materials in our garden — pouring, mixing, transporting and creating as they played together. 💦🪣

Experiences like these offer rich sensory exploration while encouraging imagination, cooperation and confidence outdoors — whatever the weather. 🌱

🩹❤️ Ready for the New School Year ❤️🩹

Before we welcome the children back next week, our team has been refreshing some of the skills that matter most.

A big thank you to Luitgard Holzleg from HEALTHY AND SAFE for another practical and engaging First Aid refresher course — putting our staff through real-life scenarios, revisiting CPR and giving everyone the opportunity to practise, ask questions and build confidence. 🚑

Regular refresher training ensures that our team feels confident and prepared should their first-aid skills ever be needed. ❤️
