Dr. Ataullah Mahmood Khan, Head of the Department of Shariah and Law, Shifa Tameer-e-Millat University (STMU), along with the faculty members of the department, had the honor of meeting Prof. Dr. Aziz-ur-Rehman to extend heartfelt congratulations on his appointment as Chairman of the Intellectual Property Organization (IPO) of Pakistan.

Prof. Dr. Aziz-ur-Rehman, a distinguished legal scholar and a valued member of the Department's Board of Studies, has rendered remarkable services to legal education, research, and institutional development. His appointment to this prestigious national position is a matter of immense pride for the Department of Shariah and Law and the entire STMU community.

During the meeting, Dr. Ataullah Mahmood Khan and the faculty members conveyed their best wishes and expressed confidence that Prof. Dr. Aziz-ur-Rehman's visionary leadership will further strengthen Pakistan's intellectual property system, promote innovation, and contribute to the advancement of research, creativity, and legal excellence across the country.

Youm-e-Istehsal-e-Kashmir 2026

The Department of Shari'ah and Law, Faculty of Social Sciences and Humanities, Shifa Tameer-e-Millat University (STMU) organized a commemorative event to observe Youm-e-Istehsal-e-Kashmir, bringing together students and faculty members to reflect on the historical, legal, and humanitarian dimensions of the Kashmir issue.

The event commenced with welcome remarks by Dr. Attaullah Khan Mehmood Wattoo, Head of the Department of Shari'ah and Law. This was followed by an insightful keynote address by Brig. Dr. Saif Ur Rahman Malik, who shared his perspectives on the Kashmir issue from historical, legal, and strategic viewpoints.

The session was chaired by Dr. Amna Mehmood, Dean, Faculty of Social Sciences and Humanities, whose presence added value to the occasion. She delivered the closing remarks, appreciating the organizers and participants while emphasizing the importance of informed academic discourse.

The event concluded with an interactive question-and-answer session, during which participants engaged with the guest speaker by asking thoughtful questions, which were comprehensively discussed.

Our students had the honor of visiting FOSPAH, Islamabad in collaboration with the Ministry of Law and Justice.

The Department of Shariah and Law, Shifa Tameer-e-Millat University, is pleased to host an insightful lecture by Dr. Saif Malik, Recipient of Tamgha-i-Imtiaz and Former Director, India Study Centre, on the occasion of Youm-e-Istehsal.

The session is open to all students and faculty members of the Department of Shariah and Law (DSL), as well as faculty members from other departments of STMU who wish to attend and participate in this academic discussion.

The Shaybani Law Society proudly organized the Mock Trial Competition 2026, providing students with a platform to strengthen their advocacy, courtroom skills, and practical understanding of legal proceedings.

This event was successfully conducted with the generous support of our participants, faculty, and sponsors. We extend our sincere gratitude to Fikar Youth Foundation for its valuable sponsorship, which played an important role in making this event a success.

Congratulations to all the participants, volunteers, judges, and organizers whose dedication and hard work made this competition a memorable experience.

The Department of Shariah and Law, STMU proudly congratulates its team for their commendable performance at the Foreign Direct Investment (FDI) Arbitration Moot.

Representing the University, Muhammad Tuaha, Uzair Ali Yousafzai, and Serena Shehzadi demonstrated strong advocacy, legal research, and teamwork throughout the competition. The team advanced to the Quarterfinals and secured first position in the preliminary round, reflecting their dedication and consistent preparation.

A special congratulations to Uzair Ali Yousafzai on being awarded Best Speaker (Claimant Side) for his outstanding oral advocacy.

We congratulate the team on this achievement and wish them continued success in their future academic and professional endeavors.

Proud Representation at the Mock Trial Competition

The Department of Shariah & Law, Shifa Tameer-e-Millat University proudly participated in the Mock Trial Competition organized by the Pakistan Legal Society (PLS) in collaboration with Muslim Group of Colleges and Shifa Tameer-e-Millat University.

Our dedicated DSL students showcased exceptional legal advocacy, courtroom skills, and professionalism throughout the competition. We are especially proud to celebrate Ms. Bareera Khan, who was honored with the Best Speaker Award for her outstanding performance throughout the competition.

Adding to this achievement, a respected faculty member from our department served as an adjudicator, reflecting the department’s commitment to academic excellence and legal education.

The event concluded with the Head of the Department Dr. Attaullah khan Mehmood Wattoo presenting shields and certificates to the participants in recognition of their dedication and remarkable efforts.

The Department of Shariah and Law proudly acknowledges the participation of its 5th semester students, Azan Hussain, Tanzeel ur Rehman, and Muhammad Abbas who visited the Islamabad High Court on 21 July 2026 as part of their legal internship at the Ministry of Law and Justice. During the visit, they had the honor of meeting Mr. Rashid Hafeez, Additional Attorney General of Pakistan. Such educational visits provide students with valuable practical exposure to Pakistan's judicial system and strengthen the connection between legal education and professional practice.
