Cosmic voids, the large underdense regions of our Universe, have emerged over the past decade as powerful cosmological laboratories: their simple dynamics, sensitivity to local gravitational effects and cosmic expansion, and ability to span large volumes, make them uniquely suited to test fundamental physics. Fueled by advances in theory, simulations, and observations, void science has matured into a precision tool for constraining the parameters of the standard cosmological model and its possible extensions.

Fuzzy dark matter simulations - Living Reviews in Computational Astrophysics
Fuzzy dark matter (FDM), composed of ultralight bosons, exhibits intricate wave phenomena on galactic scales. Compared to cold dark matter, FDM simulations are significantly more computationally demanding due to the need to resolve the de Broglie wavelength and its rapid oscillations. In this review...

Vlasov methods in space physics and astrophysics - Living Reviews in Computational Astrophysics
This paper reviews Vlasov-based numerical methods used to model plasma in space physics and astrophysics. Plasma consists of collectively behaving charged particles that form the major part of baryonic matter in the Universe. Many physical concepts ranging from our own planetary environment to the S...

Large eddy simulations in astrophysics - Living Reviews in Computational Astrophysics
In this review, the methodology of large eddy simulations (LES) is introduced and applications in astrophysics are discussed. As theoretical framework, the scale decomposition of the dynamical equations for compressible neutral fluids by means of spatial filtering is explained. For cosmological appl...

Cosmic dust may be spongier and fluffier than we thought, according to a new review by international scientists, including our own Professor Martin McCoustra.
Rather than compact rocks, these tiny grains act like “fluffy little sponges”, with large surface areas.
The findings, published in Astronomy and Astrophysics Review, could transform our understanding of how stars, planets, and the building blocks of life emerge.

A Brief Introduction to the TianQin Project https://rdcu.be/eMUxi
TianQin, a Chinese space-based gravitational wave detection mission was initiated in 2014 and has since achieved several significant milestones, including the launch of the TianQin-1 experimental satellite. The construction of the TianQin-2 experimental satellites is currently underway, with a projected launch date set for 2026. These advancements are laying the groundwork for the TianQin-3 gravitational wave detection mission with the target launch around 2035.

"The alignments of galaxies across the large-scale structure of the Universe are known to be a source of contamination for gravitational lensing, but they can also probe cosmology and the physics of galaxy evolution in many ways. In this review, I cover developments in our understanding of intrinsic alignments over the past 25 years."
