Senior Teacher Tribhuwan Dhakal Honored with the Prestigious ‘Pushpawati Guru Garima
Samman-2026’.
On September 7, 2026, Government Senior Secondary School, Tadong, honored senior teacher Mr. Tribhuwan Dhakal with the prestigious "Pushpawati Guru Garima Samman-2026," highly evaluating his lifelong and relentless contributions to the fields of education and regional literature.
It is to be recalled that this honor, established in memory of Pushpawati Chhetri, the first Headmistress of Tadong Senior Secondary School, has been awarded since 2014 to active, innovative and student-friendly teachers.
This prestigious award recognizes Mr. Dhakal's incomparable support and innovative initiatives at the school. He has undertaken pioneering work, such as introducing a 'QR code' for the school magazine. Additionally, he is the main organizational pillar for the school's successfully organized annual Bhasha Diwas. As noted by the school, his energy surpasses even today's 'Gen-Z' generation. He is always at the forefront in tasks such as providing a Xerox machine when needed by the school, arranging cultural attire and supplying Nepali teaching and reading materials.
Highlighting his philanthropic and helpful spirit, Mr. Dhakal has been awarding a cash prize and a certificate of appreciation in the form of the "Raghunath-Bhimeshwari Dhakal Memorial Award" to outstanding CBSE Class 12 students in the Nepali subject, in memory of his late parents. He has been continuously conferring this award since 2012.
Mr. Dhakal's professional journey is an excellent example of continuous learning and relentless effort. Having started his career as a primary teacher in 1988 after passing Class 10, he completed his Class 12, Graduation, Post-Graduation, Primary Teacher Training (TTI), B.Ed., and M.Ed. through private studies during his service period. Due to his determination and perseverance, he was promoted to Graduate Teacher (Arts) in 2001 and Post-Graduate Teacher (PGT) in 2008.
Beyond his regular classroom responsibilities, Mr. Dhakal is an active and multidimensional personality in the broader educational and literary fields of Sikkim:
Pioneer of Digital Education: He runs a YouTube channel named "Nepali Teacher" to provide comprehensive study materials for the CBSE Nepali subject, targeting students from classes 9 to 12.
Literary Promoter: He conducts online interviews with renowned literary figures of Sikkim, fostering knowledge exchange between students and regional writers.
Catalyst for Linguistic Diversity: He serves as the chief editor of a unique multilingual magazine "Bal Vatika" that compiles the creative writings of students in 14 different languages taught in Sikkim.
Educational Resource Person: As a recognized subject expert, he collaborates with the District Institute of Education and Training (DIET), Gangtok, as a guest lecturer.
He acts as a Resource Person for language and multidisciplinary teaching at both primary and graduate levels, and has continuously led and participated in various in-service trainings, seminars, and motivational programs.
As a Nepali language teacher, he has successfully integrated technology into regional language teaching.
His contributions have also been recognized by Pachim Sikkim Sahitya Prakashan, Sumik Lingzey Gram Panchayat, ICFAI University, Inner Wheel Club Gangtok, Gyalshing Girls' School and others.
The title of 'Pushpawati Guru Garima Samman 2026' is a fitting tribute to a true educator who enriches Tadong Senior Secondary School and the entire educational community of Sikkim through his leadership, innovative thinking, and selfless service.
