WATCH THE VIDEO. THEN ASK: WHERE IS THE EVIDENCE?

This video presents serious claims of “campus militarization”—red-tagging, surveillance, drones, military monitoring of students, and blocked mobilizations. But serious accusations require serious evidence, not simply repetition in an advocacy video.

For context, UP Mindanao was created in 1995 through Republic Act No. 7889, while the Regional Community Defense Group (RCDG) structure traces back to 1957. Today, the 11th Regional Community Defense Group (11th RCDG) operates under the Philippine Army’s Reserve Command and is involved in reserve-force development and the Reserve Officers’ Training Corps (ROTC).

Yes, the 1989 University of the Philippines–Department of National Defense (UP-DND) Accord existed, and yes, the Department of National Defense (DND) unilaterally abrogated it in 2021. But its abrogation does not automatically prove that every military presence is “campus militarization,” nor does it establish every allegation made in this video as fact.

And regarding the 11th RCDG, a House resolution calling for its relocation has been filed—but a pending resolution is not the same as a congressional finding that the unit committed all the abuses being alleged.

There is also documented history that deserves to be acknowledged: UP Mindanao and the 11th RCDG have previously entered into formal agreements, including a 2007 memorandum of agreement for a joint tree-planting activity.

So let's ask the questions that actually matter:

Where are the incident reports?
Where is the evidence?
What exactly happened, when did it happen, and who independently verified it?

Academic freedom and student safety matter. But so do truth, due process, and evidence.

Don't reduce a complicated issue to “students good, military bad.” That's not critical thinking.

If the accusations are true, prove them. If they are false or exaggerated, correct them. Either way, the public deserves facts—not propaganda disguised as truth.

[𝗜𝗡 𝗣𝗛𝗢𝗧𝗢𝗦] Following the provisions of Republic Act No. 8491 (The Flag and Heraldic Code of the Philippines), Davao de Oro State College conducted the ceremonial retirement of unserviceable Philippine flags today, June 8, 2026, at the DdOSC Main Campus.

Held during the weekly flag convocation, SUC President I Dr. Lilybeth M. Matunhay led the ceremony which served as a solemn reminder of the respect, dignity, and reverence accorded to the Philippine flag as a national symbol.

As part of the ceremony, the unserviceable Philippine flags were respectfully retired by burning, in accordance with the dignified manner prescribed for flags no longer fit for display. The ashes were then gathered and buried, symbolizing a final act of honor for the national emblem that once represented the country’s freedom, sovereignty, unity, and shared aspirations.

Through this meaningful observance, DdOSC joins the entire Filipino nation in upholding the proper care, respect, and veneration of the Philippine flag.
