A REMINDER TO YOU FELLOW COLLEAGUES ❤️
Sometimes, before you report a colleague to the hierarchy or speak negatively about them to your boss, pause and think.
You may see your colleague every day at work, but you may not know the battles they are fighting outside the workplace.
That “small salary” you think is insignificant may be paying school fees for children, feeding a family, supporting elderly parents, paying rent, buying medication, or keeping someone alive.
You may not know how many people depend on that salary.
So, before you write that damaging report, before you push for someone’s punishment, before you celebrate another colleague’s downfall, think carefully.
If your colleague has genuinely done something wrong, let the appropriate procedures take their course. But don't destroy someone's livelihood out of jealousy, misunderstanding, personal disagreement or malice.
Today it may be your colleague. Tomorrow, it could be you.
As teachers, we should not only educate children; we should also learn to be humane with one another.
Let us correct when correction is needed.
Let us report when reporting is necessary.
But let us never forget the human being behind the job.
A little compassion can save a family. ❤️
