Today, Columbia School had the privilege of learning from outstanding community partners and presenters as we recognized National Indigenous Peoples Day and continued our Treaty Education learning journey.

A special thank you to CN for generously providing a hot dog lunch for all of our students and staff. Your support helped make this a memorable day for our school community.

Thank you to Mario Petit from CN for sharing his experiences and insights regarding his role in reconciliation as an Executive Human Resources Talent Acquisition and Indigenous Recruitment Officer. His presentation provided valuable perspectives on building relationships, creating opportunities, and advancing reconciliation through meaningful action in the workplace.

We would also like to thank the Yorkton Indigenous Friendship Centre for leading our students in Treaty Emblem making activities. The hands-on learning experience helped students explore the meaning and importance of the Treaties in a creative and engaging way.

Thank you to Merri Culbertson for sharing her knowledge of Treaties and Indigenous history with our students and staff. Her engaging Treaty presentation and Treaty Trivia challenged us to learn, reflect, and deepen our understanding of the Treaty relationships that continue to shape our communities today.

We are grateful to all of our presenters and partners for helping our students build knowledge, understanding, and respect for Indigenous Peoples, cultures, and Treaty relationships.

We are beyond grateful to our a Indigenous Community Workers for their commitment to connecting with community partners and organizing amazing learning opportunities for our students. A HUGE COUGAR ROAR 🐯 for Mrs. Asham and Ms. Abraham.
