Thank you Yorkton Tribal Council!🍗

YTC does so much for our city and we just wanted to take a second to thank them. They kindly donated food to several families and other places throughout our community. Thanks to them, we have a thanksgiving feast ready for our students! This is very important to us as food is a great way to connect with others.

We are looking forward to our thanksgiving feast this week!

We Matter Art Project

Some exciting things are underway! Sebastian and our student lead artist are constructing a meaningful art project in the first trimester of this school year. We don’t want to spoil the end result, but we are looking forward to the new addition. Thanks, We Matter!

Did you know?…🎓

Our 2025/26 Graduation Class made Dreambuilders history as the biggest Graduation class to date!

We had 16 Graduates in total! We credit the students for their perseverance and dedication to themselves. We have heard from a few about their post secondary lives and we are proud!

If you are a Dreambuilders alumni, feel free to message us. We love hearing how you are doing!

These should be the last of the Graduation photos! They turned out beautifully thanks to Simple Shots By Jackie!

Here are a few photos from our medicine walk in Little Bone with our Cultural Coordinator, Christine, and Sebastian last week!

Medicine Picking🌱

At the start of each school year, our Cultural Coordinator, Christine Deiter, takes our students out to pick medicines for the year. She educates the youth on the history and importance of each plant and creates an unforgettable experience.

This year they went to Littlebone to collect the plants and leave an offering. Our Wildlife and Habitat class joined in to learn as well.

They brought back peppermint, sage and willow branches for the year.

The students spent the remainder of the day preparing, drying and cleaning the plants for use.

Thanks again, Christine and Sebastian!

Strengthening InLand Connections

•Did you know that we were one of the July 2025 recipients of the Community Initiatives Fund. The CIF has been enhancing communities throughout Saskatchewan by eliminating funding barriers for several organizations for over 25 years. We are incredibly lucky to have been supported by this mission.

Here is a brief overview of our 2025:

•The CIF funded our “Strengthing InLand Connections” project that started last October. We purchased a locally sourced drum, started a drum group, and expanded on our current Cultural curriculum.
•We had the opportunity to work with partners, elders and travel to other communities to experience sweat lodges, ice fishing and other educational opportunities.
•Our youth was provided with more materials to craft their own traditional dresses and skirts and showcase them at other social events, such as powwows.
•Our drum group has established lasting relationships, been invited to powwows and has helped introduced Saulteaux literacy.

•The cultural programming at our school is an essential component of DBHS and is part of what makes us stand out. We believe that through these connections and experiences, our youth can reconnect with their culture, gain exposure to a new culture, gently embrace “out of the box” opportunities that challenge their comfort zone, create unique pieces of clothing, strengthen their mental/physical health, gain knowledge of natural medicines, and so much more.

We want to thank the CIF for their ongoing support in Saskatchewan, but mostly for allowing us to strengthen our cultural groups and overall educational experience at our school.

Soaring Eagle🦅

Our 2025/26 Trimester 3 Soaring Eagle recipient is….

Garian Littlechief!

Huge congratulations to Garian! His sarcasm was never unappreciated. He is generous, witty, stubborn, good-natured and knows how to make others smile. There were times when Garian would help students and staff even while no one else stood up to help or contribute. He is consistent and would volunteer with us at Paws and Claws regularly. In our 2026 Graduation, Garian was one of our Valedictorians and he received our Academic Achievement award.

Way to go!

Paint Day🖌️

We are the proud recipients of the Co-op Communities in Full Colour donation! We received a paint donation from Legacy Co-op and Legacy Co-op Agro to give the front of our school some much needed TLC.

We took advantage of the mild weather today and finally started on painting. It isn’t complete, but we hope to finish after the long weekend. We had a group of students working together and making memories! These are the moments that make our school unique and refreshing.

We want to thank our students and staff for spending their morning by pouring back into our school. They worked very hard!

Another huge thank you to Legacy Co-op Agro for the paint and all of the help.

We will post pictures of the final outcome!
