The best part of being a teacher is getting to be a lifelong learner!
As a teacher, my biggest goal is to always strive to do better and be better. I make sure I'm always reading new teaching strategies, learning new songs to teach to students, making new worksheets and activities, and incorporating new ideas into lessons! Not only does it make learning fun for them, but it makes teaching fun for me!
What is one new thing you learned this week?ππ»

Taking music lessons has countless benefits!

You are never too old to begin!!
Words of wisdom in my opinion. I started learning piano at a fairly young age β I was 5. Still, though, I didn't start as early as other children, who began lessons at age 3. I worried about being behind other people my age, about never being good enough.
I started taking lessons in classical voice and musical theatre when I was 14. Was I too old then? Was I too far behind my friends in my theatre group, who started singing as early as I started playing piano?
I'm 22 and have just begun taking harp lessons. I'm using the same method books as children as young as 5. But I know now that you are never too old. You can begin learning an instrument at any age β and that's one of the joys of it all!!

5 tools to help build better pianists πΌ
β« Practice: This one is the first and most obvious β students who practice will improve faster than students who don't!
β¬ Inspiration: Students who are inspired will want to practice more! Inspiration can come in many forms β through studying the greats, playing music you love, or even having the freedom to write your own music!
β« Ambition: If you set realistic goals, you're more likely to want to achieve those goals, which will in turn make you practice more and improve technique and ability!
β¬ Navigation: A good teacher makes a good student. Having guidance from someone can help shape your musical journey.
β« Opportunity: Seeking out opportunities to perform and to learn will make you a better musician. From open-mic events, to masterclasses, to the piano in your grandmother's basement, there are always opportunities waiting for you!
What do you think of this list? What would you add?

Happy August! To start off the month, I want to share some tips on making piano a habit.
By this, I don't mean turning it into something less fun, or making it a chore. I simply mean making a routine that gets you to the piano every single day! Daily practice is so crucial to progress.
What will you do this month to play the piano more? πΆ
