Today, we feel especially proud, honoured, and thankful for the amazing teachers who make Greek School GBA such a special place.

We are incredibly fortunate to have educators who bring passion, patience, creativity, and heart into their classrooms each week. They do so much more than teach the Greek language. They help our students connect with their culture, heritage, traditions, and one another.

To our incredible teachers: thank you for all that you do, for the care you show our students, and for helping keep our Greek language and heritage alive for the next generation.

In celebration of World Animal Day, our students explored the wonderful world of animals while building their Greek vocabulary through play, movement, creativity, and hands-on learning!

Throughout the day, students learned the Greek names for a variety of farm, wild, ocean, and woodland animals through puzzles, matching and sorting activities, animal figurines, books, interactive games, crafts, and animal yoga!

Our kindergarten learners explored animals through sensory and play-based activities, while our grade 1 to 3 students practised identifying, reading, and matching animal names in Greek and tested their knowledge through interactive challenges.

Last Saturday, students took part in our annual Greek Book Tasting, giving them the opportunity to explore a variety of Greek books in a fun, interactive, and age-appropriate way!

Our younger students had stories read aloud to them and participated throughout the reading. They identified characters, answered comprehension questions, described what they noticed in the illustrations, and even practised their Greek numbers by counting objects in the pictures or naming different colours.

After each book, students completed their Book Tasting Recording Sheets. They recorded the title of the book, circled the face that showed how much they liked it, and finished by drawing their favourite part of the story.

Our older students had the opportunity to “sample” a variety of Greek books, explore different stories and genres, share their first impressions, and think about which books they would like to continue reading and why.

At Greek School GBA, literacy is about much more than learning new vocabulary. Activities such as our Book Tasting give students opportunities to listen, speak, read, think, respond, and communicate in Greek while developing a positive relationship with books and the Greek language.

Today, we take a moment to celebrate Father’s Day and honour the fathers and father figures who help shape the lives of our children through their love, guidance, encouragement, and quiet acts of wisdom.

Whether it is a father, grandfather, uncle, stepfather, godparent, older sibling, or another trusted role model, we recognize the many individuals who support, nurture, and inspire our children each day. Often, the most meaningful lessons are taught not through words, but through everyday moments, shared experiences, and unwavering presence.

From all of us at Greek School GBA, thank you to the fathers and father figures in our community for the values, strength, and care you bring to the lives of our students and families. Your impact reaches far beyond today and is deeply appreciated throughout the year.

Our High School Greek Credit Classes have officially wrapped up for the year!

The exams are done, the hard work has paid off, and another successful year is in the books. We are so proud of our students for their dedication, perseverance, and commitment to learning the Greek language and culture.

We wish all of our students and families a wonderful, restful, and well-deserved summer.

A school year may have come to an end, but the memories and the growth remain.

As we tidy classrooms and prepare for another wonderful year ahead, we are reminded of just how far our students have come. These "Welcome Back to School" pages, completed during the very first days of Greek School, capture their hopes, interests, and dreams at the beginning of the year.

Months later, looking back at these pages is a beautiful reminder of the confidence gained, friendships formed, language skills developed, and goals achieved along the way. From first-day introductions to end-of-year celebrations, every page tells a story of growth.

We are so proud of each and every one of our students and look forward to seeing how their stories continue to unfold next year.

We are thrilled to announce that our Greek High School Credit Program is expanding to include a Saturday option beginning in the upcoming school year!

Classes will be held every Saturday from 9:00 a.m. – 12:30 p.m.

This program provides students with the opportunity to earn high school credits while strengthening their Greek language skills, deepening their understanding of Greek culture, and connecting with their heritage.

We look forward to welcoming both new and returning students as we continue to grow our program and support student success.

Greek School GBA is excited to welcome The Greek Press to our school!

This valuable resource will serve as both an educational tool for our older students and a way for our families to stay informed and connected to the Greek community locally and abroad. Through newspapers and current events, students will have opportunities to strengthen their Greek language skills, develop media literacy, and engage in meaningful discussions about issues affecting Greece, Cyprus, and the Greek diaspora.

For our parents and community members, The Greek Press provides another way to stay connected to our heritage, our language, our culture, and the events shaping our communities both here in Canada and around the world.
