After an incredibly difficult weekend, we are grateful to be able to come together as a community — with care for one another, with kindness, and with the resilient spirit that Fireweed represents. 💚

Five dumpsters in Yellowknife are now five pieces of public art!

Thank you to Kavanaugh Waste Removal Services for initiating this project, and to James Wedzin, Nancy Vail, Alice Winkler and Hana Steinwand for the care you put into these bins. Mine is a resting caribou with fireweed and can now be seen by NWT Brewing.

Public art belongs everywhere! Keep an eye out for them around town. Thanks to Cabin Radio for telling the story.

We are SO excited to welcome Robyn Scott to Fireweed Festival for a LIVE WINGS MURAL experience! 🎨✨

Throughout the weekend, Robyn will transform three huge panels into a stunning set of raven wings inspired by Fort Smith, the North and Fireweed Festival.

You’ll get to watch the artwork come to life right in the park — and as those wings take shape, step in, strike a pose and grab your Fireweed photo! 📸🖤

A hand painted brook trout and rainbow trout on wooden canoe paddles, done a while back as a commission. I love working on non-traditional surfaces. The grain and the curve change how a painting comes together.

I’m on the hunt for old paddles to use as canvases. Any condition at all. Cracked, weathered, retired to a corner of the shed, all welcome. If you’re in Yellowknife and you have one kicking around that could use a new life, I’d happily take it off your hands as a donation or buy it from you.

Something new is happening to Yellowknife’s garbage bins!

I am working with Det'on Cho Kavanaugh Waste Removal Services on a mural project, alongside a few other Yellowknife artists, and today I am laying in the sketch for my bin. It is a big green canvas and I am a little bit in love with it already.

This one will be on site at Old Town Ramble and Ride, where I will be finishing it live next weekend.
