Financial awards for African Canadian and Black students | NSCC NSCC offers dedicated awards for African Canadian and Black students, as well as many more open to equity-deserving groups.

Each February, we celebrate African Heritage Month and the extraordinary legacy, contributions and heritage of Black and African Canadians.

In Nova Scotia, this year’s theme is Strength in Unity: Moving Forward with Purpose, Prosperity and Progress, highlighting the impact of collective action. This February also marks a national milestone - the 30th anniversary of Black History Month in Canada, themed Honouring Black Brilliance Across Generations – From Nation Builders to Tomorrow’s Visionaries.
