Have you ever stopped to reflect on where we are in this incredible age of information?

With the internet, AI, social media, and online learning platforms, we have an unprecedented amount of knowledge—literally at our fingertips. It’s astonishing how much we can learn, and how quickly we can access it.

But something I heard several weeks ago made me pause and take note:

Much of what we learn through these easy-access sources often stays at the surface. And for many of us, when left to explore on our own, that’s where the learning stops.

Then, when we attend an in-person or online conference or invest in a one- or two-day training, we bring high expectations. We want deeper insights, more profound understanding, and tangible takeaways that justify our time and money.

Yet, I’ve often heard people say, “I didn’t learn anything new there. I really wanted and expected more.”

The emotion behind that statement? Disappointment.

Here’s the reality:

At large events or one-off learning sessions—especially those designed to cater to diverse audiences—facilitators and organizers often aim to meet the general needs of the group. If they don’t know where the audience’s knowledge begins, they’re likely to provide surface-level insights, not a deep dive.

And that’s okay.

True depth of learning doesn’t happen in a single session. It requires intentional investment: time, focus, energy, and resources.

This is why I love something a business colleague recently said as we were planning our 2025 offers:

“Go deep, not wide.”

This is exactly the approach I’ve touted over the last decade or so, and it's the one I'm embracing more fully as I continue to plan for the year ahead.

This is one of my favorite times of the year.

Slowing down to reenergize.

Taking stock on what's important.

Spending time with friends and family.

Reflecting on what 2024 brought to the table in life and in business.

Revisiting and revamping the 3DLife Inc. vision as we move into 2025.

And setting the goals and intentions that will support the pie-in-the-sky impact (THE dream) that fuels me to get out of bed every day.

I'm so grateful for all that has happened this year; for the growth and results my clients have achieved, and for who I have become in the process.
