Sammy the Seagull Was Rescued at Lakeview Academy!
We had a very special (and unexpected!) visitor at Lakeview Academy on Monday morning! Our Grade 3/4 class worked together to write the story of Sammy the Seagull and his rescue. We thought we’d share it with you!
The Story of Sammy the Seagull
Mrs. B arrived at school Monday morning to find our friend, Sammy Seagull, walking in front of our school with a broken wing. Oh no!
Miss Abby thought of a great idea! She called Hope for Wildlife, and they came to the rescue!
Sammy was very frightened. He didn’t know who these people were or what glass was! He learned many things while visiting our school!
Our friend from Hope for Wildlife loves her volunteer position. She thinks poor Sammy got caught in the wind and struck something that broke his wing. We were given Sammy’s patient number so we can check up on him in five weeks to see how he is doing!
A Few Special Messages from Our Class:
“Thank you, Hope for Wildlife, for helping an animal!”
“Now Sammy knows what glass is!”
“If you think seagulls are silly, like and follow our school page! If you think Lakeview did a good job rescuing Sammy, give us a like!”
We are so thankful to Hope for Wildlife for coming to Sammy’s rescue! What began as an unexpected visitor turned into a wonderful real-life learning experience for our students. We hope Sammy’s wing heals beautifully and that he’ll be flying again soon! Enjoy the photos from Sammy’s visit and rescue!
