We sing familiar songs and discover new ones. We move, dance, bounce, sway, and march together. We explore instruments that are just the right size for little hands.

We laugh.
We listen.
We connect.

Most importantly, we create a joyful musical experience that families can continue long after class is over.

One of my favourite moments is watching caregivers and children share music together. Those songs often become part of family life, whether sung during bath time, in the car, or while getting ready for bed.

Music Together isn't about creating tiny performers.

It's about helping children develop a joyful relationship with music while strengthening the bond between child and caregiver.

And honestly?

It's just a lot of fun.

The most important thing your young child can learn in music class isn't a song.

It's joy.

When we think about music education, it's easy to imagine learning an instrument or reading notes. But for young children, music begins somewhere much simpler.

It begins with a giggle while bouncing to a steady beat.

It begins with a caregiver singing alongside them.

It begins with scarves floating through the air, tiny feet dancing across the floor, and joyful moments shared together.

These experiences are about so much more than music. They're about building connection, confidence, curiosity, and a lifelong love of making music.

That's why I love teaching Music Together®.

In every class, families sing, dance, play instruments, and explore music in a playful, welcoming environment. There's no expectation for children to sit perfectly still or "perform." Instead, we create a space where children can participate in the ways that feel right for them.

Some children jump right in.
Some quietly observe before joining.
Both are learning.

Every smile, every clap, every wiggle is part of the journey.

When a child comes for their first singing lesson, they're usually very nervous.

And that makes total sense! The unknown is scary, even if you know it will be okay in the end.

So, here's what happens:

Your kid walks in, we chat about the week, about their voice, how they're feeling. Then we do some stretching. We make weird warmup sounds for a bit. Then they sing a song (one they've prepared) and we go from there, working on what they'd like to change and strengthening what's working well.

We might do other things to help them become a well-rounded musician. Maybe they want to learn to read music, maybe we work on keeping a steady beat, maybe we work on listening skills so they know what they're hearing from a technical standpoint. It depends on the age and goals of each student.

We laugh. We make mistakes. We learn.

Voice lessons at the studio go at the student's pace. We try to find that sweet spot right outside the student's comfort zone, but not so far that they're too scared/uncomfortable to try. We want students to feel empowered to grow their own voice in the ways that feel good. 💖

Singing lessons are so much more than singing lessons. Yes, we learn better technique. Yes, singing gets easier and more free. Yes, you can sing songs you couldn't before with a sense of ease.

But you also become more confident. More willing to make mistakes and learn from them. More self-compassionate. You become more yourself.

And that's my favourite part about teaching people to sing. 💖
