Long before it was renamed the St. John River, this grand waterway was named by the people who have cared for it for millennia. In the wolistoquey language, Wolastoq translates to "The beautiful and bountiful river."

From this river comes the identity of the Wolastoqiyik (People of the beautiful river). For generations, it has been a highway, a grocery store, and a gathering place.

On this National Indigenous Peoples day we honour the water that has brought life and connection.

🌊 Fun on the water starts with safety first!

Whether you are exploring the beautiful Meduxnekeag or paddling along the Wolastoq, the absolute number one priority is making sure your kids have the skills to stay safe.

We love seeing the kids build confidence on the water, but that comes with knowledge. Here are some non-negotiables for exploring the water with us:

Having a properly fitted lifejacket and making sure it’s always worn and fully zipped/buckled - no exceptions. We provide these.

River levels and flows change fast. We teach kids how to read the water, spot hidden hazards, and know their limits. We never paddle alone. Out on the water, we look out for one another with the buddy system

If anyone tips over, they know exactly how to stay calm, flip into a safe defensive floating position, and hold onto their paddle.

Our certified instructors make learning safety feel like fun!

Spots are filling up fast for our upcoming youth paddling programs. Give your child skills that last a lifetime!
