Eastwood Play and Learn

Hi everyone! Happy.. Spring? Winter? Srinter? Its difficult to tell what season it is right now!!

I wanted to touch base with you all since we have been receiving alot of inquiries for childcare. While we do NOT have any spots available right now, we will have 2 part day spaces come available starting in September. The hours will be from 8am until 1pm. This does not include school closures.

We are pleased to welcome Penelope and Amanda who will be coming to play with us starting the first week in September.

Ahhh.. Spring is a beautiful season.. From seeing new things (Tigertail butterfly) to feeling the rain to planting tomato plants and watching them grow.. Spring is rich in new learning experiences and we are loving every minute of it...

We are so happy to welcome Ben to our daycare family!! We're now even with 3 boys and 3 girls.. :-)

Now that our Thanksgiving meals have been eaten and our holiday has been enjoyed, we are entering spooky season... We are reading stories about Monsters, Skelletons, Bats and Goblins. Stories about what we could dress up as, a non fiction book about Skelletons and a fun, interactive book call, "Go Away Big Green Monster". This book allows the children to imagine the monster but then gives them the ability to tell it to go away. They learn to have that little bit of control over their own fears. Each story has a hidden meaning or message behind it.

We have Fall and Halloween stickers in the art area as well as fall coloured play doh.

We have scooped all the goop out of the pumpkins, washed, dried and dyed the pumpkin seeds so we can make new colourful pictures with them!!

We have had a busy summer so far. We have been exploring insects (name & if they are safe to be around), chasing butterflies and we even found a large caterpillar that we decided to take inside in a mesh container to watch it grow once we made sure it was safe and everyone who wanted to, had a turn holding it..

......I wonder what adventures we will have through the rest of the summer.... Only time will tell...

Out of 10 caterpullars, we had all 10 turn into pupas inside their crysalis and we are happy to report that 7 out of the 10 have now emerged as beautiful Painted Lady Butterflies.

As of this afternoon, all but 2 of the caterpillars have created their cocoon...

We have one spot available for a child aged 2 to 4 years of age to come and play with us FULL TIME!! Chilcare costs are $16/day. Message/call/text us for details...
