If your child loves singing, writing, or making up songs, then you should sign them up for Songwriting Class this summer!
What is it?
A weekly hour-long group class where students will learn how to write their own lyrics and music, and the basics of music production. They will have the opportunity to record a song using professional equipment, design an album cover and perform their own music (or have it performed by someone else) at the end of the summer.
Ages 8-11: Thursdays from 5:45 pm - 6:45 pm
For this age group, the class will feature some fun workshops and games to help learn the basics of music theory, and to spark some creativity. We’ll talk about how to tell stories through song, and work together to write some fun lyrics. Each student will have the opportunity to come up with lyrics and a melody, and I will help them do the rest. This workshop is for all levels of musical knowledge and ability, and I will be keeping the class size small to make sure that I am able to help each student to achieve their personal musical and songwriting goals. Each student will finish the summer with a recording of a song that they have written.
Ages 12-18: Thursdays from 6:45pm-7:45pm
For this age group, we’ll discuss how to write lyrics, melodies and chord progressions. We’ll learn the basics of notating music, so that it can be played by others. We will also go over the basics of how to use recording equipment and programs. There will be the opportunity for students to collaborate with each other on songs. Each student will leave the summer with a demo recording of one or two songs that they have written, either being sung and performed by them or someone else!
Classes cost $150 per month and will be starting the week of May 29th. Payment can be made either monthly, or all at once.
If you would like to sign your child up for Songwriting Class this summer, just send me a message on Facebook, or email me at [email protected].

Does your child love singing, dancing or acting? If so, you should sign them up for the summer Broadway Workshop!
The workshop will consist of weekly group classes, starting on May 29th.
In the workshop, they will learn the three key musical theatre skills (singing, dancing and acting) as a group. We’ll talk about different shows, and also have fun playing some improvisation games. Throughout the summer, we will work on learning group numbers together, and there will be the option for each student to work on a solo piece as well. There will be a performance at the end of the summer, so that the students can showcase their hard work! The workshop will be divided into three different age groups, and the class schedule will be as follows:
Ages 5 to 8 : Tuesdays from 5:15 pm - 6:15 pm
This workshop will consist of making fun Broadway-themed crafts, and playing lots of musical theatre games in order to help develop key musical skills!
Ages 9 to 12 : Mondays from 5:45 pm - 6:45 pm
This workshop will consist of some fun improvisation games, and warmups that will help to develop sining, dancing and acting skills. We will learn lots of fun songs and dances, while also acting out some scenes as well!
Ages 13 to 18: Mondays from 6:45 pm - 7:45 pm.
This workshop will be an opportunity for each student to focus on learning their specific musical theater goals! We’ll talk about the history of Broadway, audition techniques and some basic music theory. We’ll also learn lots of songs, dances and scenes!
The workshop costs $150 per month, and payment can be made either monthly, or all at once.
Frequently Asked Questions:
My child doesn’t have any experience in musical theatre. Will the workshop be too advanced for them?
All-levels of experience are welcome! I will be limiting the number of students in the workshop, to ensure that I am able to get to know each student, and help them achieve their own personal musical theatre goals, regardless of their previous experience!
We have some plans over the summer, is it okay if my child has to miss a class?
Yes! If your child has to miss a class, that is no problem at all. We could either have a make-up private lesson, so that they can learn anything they may have missed, or we could review it the next time that they are there.
My child loves to sing/dance, but they are very shy. Will that be a problem?
Not at all! The workshop is supposed to be a fun experience to help each student reach their individual goals. It can be a great way to work on stage-fright, and to help your child come out of their shell. If your child is too nervous to perform at the end of the summer, that is also okay! I will tailor each student’s experience to whatever is best for them.
