I am looking forward to the New Year and what it has in store. For the past few years, instead of a New Year's resolution, I have been praying for God to give me a formative word for the year. A formative word describes how you see God wanting to shape you in the coming year. My word for 2023 is "productive" it comes from John 15:8 which reads "By this my Father is glorified, that you bear much fruit and so prove to be my disciples." As I read through John 15 I discover that bearing fruit has more to do with abiding in Christ than it has to do with me making plans and goals. So, my question for the year - to myself- is, "how can I abide in Christ in such a way that I will bear much fruit?"
