Work: Living Area, Vincents Way (Detail), Antoinette Karuna
'In the aftermath of his death, as an artist, it felt right to me to contemplate scenes of this life -- meals shared, tea drank, kitchen stools, TV time. I drew those rituals using cold water dyes and water-based resists, a nod to the Malaysian batik that my father grew up around.' - Karuna, artist statement.

Work: Pitseolak, ‘Snow Bunting Return to Caribou Country,’ stonecut
Pitseolak was a pioneer of modern Inuit art based in Cape Dorset and one of the first Inuit to depict traditional life. Her work has gained worldwide popularity and commercial success, yet, more importantly, Pitseolak’s work plays a vital role in communicating traditional Inuit knowledge and values and has continued to inspire many Inuit artists.

Textiles as Resistance | Artist Spotlight: Daniel Rumbolt
Rumbolts' multidisciplinary art practice is informed by their experiences as a q***r settler artist raised in rural communities throughout the traditional land of the Mekap'sk Mi'kmaq Band (northern peninsula) of Ktaqmkuk (Newfoundland). Through material manipulation, Rumbolt transforms his rural narrative, q***r tensions, and emotions into a visual form.
