I had the pleasure of hosting some folks from the Nova Scotia Teachers Union this Wednesday Harriet Irving Botanical Gardens. It was HOT, but thanks to the shade of a beautiful oak and the stone archway entrance, we had a lovely time.
Some plants we shared time with: partridgeberry, blue vervain, blueberry, goldenrod, Queen Anne's lace, yarrow, plantain and marshmallow.

There's one more opportunity to join me in the gardens this August and it's coming up on Sunday, from 10 am-1:30pm. We will walk the grounds of the gardens, meeting a few of the abundant plant species there, break for a local and herbal inspired snack, and complete our time creating herbal oxymels under the beautiful oak shade next to the medicinal gardens. It has been such a pleasure hosting Brooklyn Itturiligaq from Nunavut here at the Harriet Irving Botanical Gardens for the past 4 weeks through Northern Youth Abroad. Qujannamiik Brooklyn. Safe travels home. Maybe we'll see you back one day at Acadia University!

We’ll paint pro-pollinator garden signs, learn from bee and pollinator scientists at Acadia and watch them at work, tour the KC Irving Environmental Science Centre and explore the botanical gardens, make seed bombs to bring home to your garden, and learn how to identify local bee species! 🐝

We're grateful to have received Clean Foundation internship funding to support hiring a fabulous Acadia University co-op student Liv Dewar this summer to work in the Gardens. The Clean crew stopped in to smell the roses last week! 🌹

It seems like just yesterday that our student garden team started and we've already reached the point of summer where they collected seeds today! Look for golden groundsel (Packera aurea) at the 2028 native plant sale. 🌼
