First sign of spring in Duncan's Cove! Coltsfoot in bloom.
On March 1st, we had our first Colstfoot bloom of 2016 in Duncans Cove (only one bloom though !)

Sometimes we forget that trees have flowers too! Report just in from one of our observers that Red Maple is now blooming in Kings County!

Our other native Rhodo is now blooming in bogs across the province! Labrador tea, formerly Ledum Groenlandicum has been re-classified as Rhododendron Groenlandicum.

The bogs of Nova Scotia are purple with our native Rhodo (rhododendron canadense) in bloom!

Bearberry (Arctostapholys uva ursi) is now blooming in Wolfville. This is a great native plant for home gardeners as it's evergreen and makes an excellent groundcover.
