PlantWatch Nova Scotia Help us track the arrival of spring across Nova Scotia. Watch one of the 16 tracked plants and report when it's blooming in your region.

PlantWatch is part of a national series of volunteer monitoring programs designed to help identify ecological changes that may be affecting our environment. The PlantWatch program enables "citizen scientists" to get involved by recording flowering times for selected plant species and reporting these dates to researchers through the Internet or by mail. When you submit your data electronically, it's added instantly to Web maps showing bloom dates across Canada, so your observations make a difference right away

On March 1st, we had our first Colstfoot bloom of 2016 in Duncans Cove (only one bloom though !)

Our other native Rhodo is now blooming in bogs across the province! Labrador tea, formerly Ledum Groenlandicum has been re-classified as Rhododendron Groenlandicum.

Bearberry (Arctostapholys uva ursi) is now blooming in Wolfville. This is a great native plant for home gardeners as it's evergreen and makes an excellent groundcover.
