Welcome to Acadia Axewomen Basketball, Kylie Newman!

The Calgary native joins Acadia University after a successful high school career that included a Calgary city championship, an Alberta provincial silver medal and team captain honours.

Kylie's perseverance, leadership and work ethic make her an exciting addition to the Axewomen program.

The Regina, Saskatchewan native joins Acadia University after two seasons with the University of Winnipeg Wesmen.

It was a big night in the Maritime Women’s Basketball Association on Wednesday for the Axewomen when the Halifax Hornets and Halifax Thunder battled it out.

Between the two squads there were nine Axewomen in action with a great mix of former, current and incoming players.

Once an Axewoman, always an Axewoman.

Basketball season is on the horizon.

The 2026-27 AUS basketball schedule was announced Thursday afternoon, with the Axemen and Axewomen set to open both the season and home schedule on Friday, October 23 against Dalhousie on Stu Aberdeen Court.

The home schedule is evenly split this year, with five games before the December holiday break and five more in the new year.

The season will also lead into a major moment for the Axewomen program, as Acadia hosts the 2027 U SPORTS Women’s Basketball Final 8 in Halifax this March at Scotiabank Centre.
