The ACFD Bridge Training to Dental Practice in Canada Program offers academic preparation, clinical exposure, and guidance tailored for internationally trained dentists, and just received preliminary accreditation status. Receiving preliminary accreditation status means applicants who successfully complete the BTDPC program, will no longer be required to write the NDECC.

Accreditation Approved

We are proud to announce that the ACFD Bridge Training to Dental Practice in Canada (BTDPC) program has officially achieved Preliminary Accreditation Status from the Commission on Dental Accreditation of Canada at all three pilot sites (University of Alberta, Dalhousie University and Université Laval). This milestone enhances the value of the program and streamlines the pathway for our applicants.

What does this mean for you?

Streamlined Path to Licensure

Trainees who complete the BTDPC program for the 2026–2027 cohort and afterwards will no longer be required to write the NDECC. Instead, trainees will be eligible to move directly to the Virtual OSCE with the National Dental Examining Board of Canada (NDEB), and then apply for licensure to practice dentistry in Canada.

Expanded Eligibility Window

Our preliminary accredited status allows us to broaden our application criteria. Effective immediately, the validity period for the Assessment of Fundamental Knowledge (AFK) and the Assessment of Clinical Judgment (ACJ) has been extended. You are now eligible to apply if you have passed these assessments within sixty months (5 years) of the BTDPC application deadline, an increase from the previous three-year limit.

Nous sommes fiers d’annoncer que le programme de formation passerelle vers la pratique dentaire au Canada (FPPDC) a officiellement obtenu le statut d’accréditation préliminaire de la Commission d’agrément dentaire du Canada dans les trois sites pilotes (Université de l’Alberta, Université Dalhousie et Université Laval). Cette étape importante renforce la valeur du programme et simplifie le parcours de nos candidats.

Qu’est-ce que cela signifie pour vous ?

Parcours simplifié vers l’obtention du permis d’exercice

Les candidats qui termineront le programme PFPPDC pour la cohorte 2026-2027 et les suivantes ne seront plus tenus de passer l’examen EDNCC. Ils pourront plutôt passer directement à l’examen ECOS virtuel du Bureau national d’examen dentaire du Canada (BNED), puis demander un permis d’exercice de la dentisterie au Canada.

Période d’admissibilité prolongée

Notre statut d’accréditation préliminaire nous permet d’élargir nos critères d’admissibilité. À compter de maintenant, la période de validité de l’évaluation des connaissances fondamentales (ÉCF) et de l’évaluation du jugement clinique (ÉJC) a été prolongée. Vous êtes désormais admissible si vous avez réussi ces évaluations dans les soixante mois (5 ans) précédant la date limite de dépôt des demandes au PFPPDC, soit une augmentation par rapport à la limite précédente de trois ans.
