Christina's Piano Studio

It's been a "fishy" month around here! 🎣🐟🐠🐡🦈🦦 Students have put extra effort into memorizing scales, triads, arpeggios, and key signatures. I pulled out lots of fish themed music games for a fun way to review, and students got to take a dip into the bin of ocean/fish themed prizes when they filled in the scales of their fish. Way to go 👏 to my ambitious and enthusiastic group of students!

Thank you to all my students who played at the Outlet Collection mall at MRMTA's "Kids Helping Kids" Musicthon 2026.🎹 I was SO proud of each and every one of you🤩And thank you for helping support youth music programs, with donations to United Way Winnipeg!🥰 I'll keep you posted on the total raised.

In the midst of this joyous season, I am sad to announce that we said goodbye to our dear dog Chica today. She brought immeasurable joy, unconditional love, and boundless optimism and energy to all who encountered her.

I am sharing this tribute on my studio page because for most of her 16 years of life she spent 4-6+ hours a day beside or around the piano, patiently putting up with my own LONG daily practice hours when I was doing my advanced piano studies, listening and being lulled to sleep by my students as they learned to play, excitedly greeting incoming families in her younger years, curling up beside waiting parents on the couch, sometimes even milling around during recitals or piano parties.

Thank you to all those who made Chica's life so much fuller and richer (and definitely more exciting!) by being part of it! She LOVED all those who came through our doors each week. And we all loved her. She will be missed. Rest in peace dear Chica.

This "If" game from Busy Little Turtle (included in the 12 days of Christmas package) has been SO much fun to play with students this past week!

I make a statement about a music concept and the student answers with an action instead of saying true or false. Ex. If my statement is true they "ho ho ho like Santa Claus" or if my statement is false "giggle like an elf". Different actions for each statement.😁🤣 Music review accomplished with a whole lot of smiles and laughter!

❄️Carols & Cookies Recitals 2025❄️ Our six mini recitals were all about sharing music 🎶🎶, enjoying yummy cookies 🍪 & hot chocolate ☕and also meeting and connecting with other families within our music community🥰. Thanks to all 98 people (students and their families) who came out on this cold winter weekend!

Today's lesson took a lovely little detour❤️

Today's Movies & Music Piano Parties were a ton of fun! The goal of this event was to create both a social and also performance opportunity for students that was relaxed and fun. They had each chosen a song from a movie or TV show to prepare and perform and enjoyed trying to guess the name of each other's songs and the movies they were from. Music friends, sharing songs, playing games.....and eating snacks....a winning combination!
