Progressive Supper - May 23
We trust that everyone is healthy and happy. Since the UofM pool closed down, we have missed seeing everyone on a regular basis. Some of us have continued to swim individually and in groups at PanAm and BoniVital pools. We still don't have a date for the opening of the UofM pool but it isn't likely to be before the fall.

However, in order to reconnect with all our teammates we are planning our annual Midcan/Bison Progressive Potluck Dinner on Saturday, May 23rd. As you know, it’s a fun time and a great opportunity to catch up with each other.

Appetizers will be at Tracey Jennings, 4:30 - 6:00 pm;

Main course and dessert will be at Laurie McCallum's, 6:30 till whenever they kick us out; 30 Ferndale Ave.

I talked to the construction crew at the U of M pool on Friday April 24. They said they would be finished in 10 weeks. So I expect the pool might be ready for September 2026.

Thanksgiving’s in the rear-view mirror, Halloween is fast approaching and Christmas is around the corner. The MidCan Christmas get together is on the horizon. We know how busy the Christmas season can be so:

Mark your calendars for the MidCan Christmas get together Tuesday, Dec 16 at 6:30 at Smitty’s (Unit 7, 150 Meadowood drive).

Note the change of location. We’re hoping for a quieter, more suitable venue.

Progressive Dinner May 31 2025

Swimmers, coaches, and significant others are invited.
It is a potluck supper. People are asked to bring a food item to share and whatever they want to drink (BYOB).

I know this is not the news we were hoping for (please see note below)! It looks like the pool will be closed until further notice. I am really hoping we can re-open during the summer months, if that is the case, we will restart as soon as possible. I'm also looking at potential space at the Pan Am (which is extremely full with swim clubs at the moment). I will keep everyone in the loop as soon as I know more.

Regrettably, the pool will remain closed longer than anticipated, and all swim programming for the remainder of the spring season has been cancelled. We recognize this change may disrupt your plans and sincerely apologize for the inconvenience.

We are writing to inform you that due to an unexpected issue, the Joyce Fromson Pool at the University of Manitoba will be closed as of 3:00 p.m. today, April 9 2025 to allow for essential repairs and maintenance. This work requires the pool to be fully drained in order to complete a thorough assessment.

We understand that this closure is disappointing and impacts your plans, and we sincerely apologize for the inconvenience.

We remain committed to delivering high-quality aquatic programs and will be providing compensation for any missed sessions during this time.

An update on the status of the repairs and anticipated reopening will be shared with you no later than Thursday, April 24.

Our final practice of 2024 will be December 19th and our first practice back in 2025 will be January 2nd.

There will be a team pizza night after the final practice on December 19th @ 10 PM at Boston Pizza (2729 Pembina Hwy, Winnipeg, MB R3T 2H5)
Everyone is welcome regardless of what day of the week you typically train!

Just a friendly reminder that the program starts up again next Tuesday (Sept. 17th 2024). If you plan on swimming this season, please register this week 🙂

There will be no practice on Thursday August 01st due to the Bomber game.
The final practice of the summer will be August 25th. The program will re-start (with a fresh registration) mid-September. Details about next season will be shared in the next couple of weeks.
