I browsed and browsed for the image I thought should accompany that cool little nomination logo. I weeded through what felt like a million photos—MANY of them selfies of me in tears.
When I’m overwhelmed or when self-doubt creeps in, the tears flow, so I naturally take a selfie. It’s part of my personal journey. I need the reminder that this is hard. Really really hard. And that if I scroll just one photo past those tears, there are endless images of happy people creating in this space and the hard becomes a bit easier and I remember why i’m doing all these hard hard things.
But I chose this photo instead.
I chose it for this little girl—the one I feel most connected to these days. The little girl who struggled to feel comfortable in her own skin. The one who always wanted to make things, create things, and work with her hands.
Since opening this store, I’ve done things I honestly never thought I was capable of. Put me in the corner and I’m as content as could be but when you open a business in this economy, the corner won’t serve you well. I learned to be loud. Well not that loud but loud enough to be heard.
Am I doing it perfectly? Nope.
Do I wish I was? Hell yes but I’m still growing.
But maybe the point isn’t perfection. Maybe it’s having the courage to keep showing up, learning, creating, and growing anyway.
And if this little girl also known as mick or cricket could see where we are now, I think she’d be dang pretty proud.
Thank you for this nomination.

When we think about Little House on the Prairie, we think about simplicity, handmade living, community, and people making beauty out of what they had.
And honestly? That feels pretty familiar around here.
Over the past while, our little community of knitters and crocheters has quietly been stitching away on pieces for the series. After a little letter from paramount studios asking us to stop all press (oops, a bit excited) we FINALLY get to gather together and watch it come to life on screen.
This evening isn’t just about a TV show. It’s about celebrating the makers, the friendships, the conversations, and the magic that can happen when creative people come together.
We’d love to watch it with you.

Local Yarn Store Day is almost here!
We’re feeling really grateful to get to celebrate another year of this little shop and the community that fills it.
We’re keeping the day simple and full of good things:
Giveaways (because surprises are fun)
Button painting (tiny, satisfying creativity)
Special in-store & online discounts
Snacks & coffee (always snacks & coffee)
Mostly, it’s just a day to hang out, browse yarn, make something small, and be together in the shop.
~If you’ve ever walked through our doors—THANK YOU. You’re part of why this place feels like it does.~
Much love,
Crystal

I’ve been sitting with some unfortunate news and I have lots of feels over it.
It is with an enormous heavy heart that I announce we are postponing our Make on the Lake retreat this year. 🥹
Please know we love this retreat and this is not the end, just a postponement.
Thank you everyone for your excitement and I hope this lands softly with you.
Cheers,
Crystal
