's Dr. Stephen Smith (Psychology) and Dr. Camilo Valderrama (Applied Computer Science) are working with Shyamal Dharia (MSc 25), a senior researcher and recipient of UWinnipeg's 2025 Graduate Student of Highest Distinction Award in applied computer science, to connect the dots between emotion, brain activity, signal processing, and AI.

The trio's paper earned the Best Paper Award at the 39th Canadian Conference on Artificial Intelligence.

♻️ Empty coffee cups and fountain drink cups are now recyclable in Manitoba! This means that all off-campus hot and cold paper cups can go into the blue beverage section of our campus multi-stream waste bins. Note that cups purchased on campus are compostable and should be placed in the organics stream.

The 55 Plus Program returns this fall with six exciting courses, each just $99. No tests, no assignments, just the joy of learning. Adult learners of all ages are welcome. Classes meet in-person, once a week for six weeks.

UWinnipeg has launched a new Certificate in Human Rights, offered through The University of Winnipeg Global College!

This is a stand-alone certificate with 30 hours of coursework, built from courses already offered by , and was designed to provide a more accessible and inclusive pathway for those hoping to gain a short and focused human rights credential.

🧰 A friendly reminder that renovations to the University of Winnipeg Library are currently underway. The updated library will feature universal washrooms, more study rooms, a library classroom, and a redesigned service area, along with new paint, flooring, and lighting.

The final FYI (First-Year Information) Session before the start of Fall Term is tomorrow, August 19 from 5:30 to 7:00 p.m. on Zoom. All incoming first-year students are encouraged to tune in.

We'll discuss university terminology, degree and major requirements, timetable creation, how and when to register for courses, and how to use WebAdvisor.
