“TOWARD A HUMAN RIGHTS MUSEOLOGY: STORIES AND ARTEFACTS IN THE CANADIAN MUSEUM FOR HUMAN RIGHTS”: MARCH 26
The Department of History at the University of Winnipeg is pleased to welcome Jodi Giesbrecht, Manager of Research & Curation, and Jeremy Maron, Researcher-Curator of the Canadian Museum of Human Rights for a public presentation:
“Toward a Human Rights Museology: Stories and Artefacts in the Canadian Museum for Human Rights.”
WHEN: Wednesday, March 26th from 12:30 - 1:30pm
WHERE: 3M64 Manitoba Hall
This public lecture will examine how human rights are a part of the Canadian Museum of Human Rights’ research methodologies and curatorial practices. Jodi Giesbrecht will speak about multimedia storytelling and oral history, while Jeremy Maron will speak about the CMHR’s selection and use of artefacts.
All are warmly welcomed and encouraged to attend.

Looking to take some exciting sociology courses for spring? For the first time in a decade, sociology of leisure will be offered, and sociology of communications and media will be offered too. Check back for more details.
ATTN Sociology students @ the UW - we have a common room now! 6L37. Complete with a desk, computer, and a microwave. We're still working on getting some furniture in. Feel free to hang around between 9:00 to 5:00 if you need a quiet place to study.

For the 2013 Sociology Speaker series presented by the Department of Sociology @ The University of Winnipeg and the University of Winnipeg Sociology Students Society. Check it out, we have wonderful, talented, and intelligent professors talking. Light lunch included! Hope to see you all there and support the sociology department.
As of right now we do not have any scheduled meetings. We would like to know what peoples availabilities are for student group meetings. So far we have Monday from 11:30 - 12:30, Tuesday or Thursday from 11:30 - 12:45, Wednesday from 11:30 - 12:30, or 12:30 - 1:20 (our original time), or on Fridays from 11:30 - 12:30.
The bake sale was a HUGE success, thank you to everyone who came by and bought our lovely "baked foods!"
