While BSLS is excited for our new staff additions this 26/27 school year, we are sad that one has to go😭.

Today was Mrs. Kaur's last day at BSLS, as she is moving to Ontario.

Since September 2024, Mrs. Kaur has been a valued part of the BSLS faculty. Her infectious kindness and positive energy will be sorrowfully missed by students and staff alike.

We wish her the best as she moves forward in a new exciting chapter of her life, and we hope she comes back to visit us soon❤️

As promised, BSLS is glad to announce our 2nd new faculty addition, Mrs. Quast!
Mrs. Quast will be joining us as our new kindergarten teacher.

Below is a message she has provided to introduce herself:

Dear families of Beautiful Saviour Lutheran School!
My name is Jolene Quast, and I am so excited to be joining the Beautiful Saviour Lutheran School community!

I was born in Innisfail, Alberta, and grew up in Mara Lake—a beautiful community in the Okanagan—before returning to Alberta to finish high school.

I earned my degree from Concordia University in Edmonton, where I met my husband, Jacob. Jacob is a Lutheran pastor currently serving as the Director of Domestic Missions at the Lutheran Synod office.

Together, we raised three wonderful children: Julia, Liam, and Rowen. Though our family moved frequently over the years, our children are now adults! Julia and Rowen relocated to Winnipeg last fall, and our son, Liam, works as a mechanic at the New Gold mine in Fort Frances.

Over my career, I have had the privilege of teaching across all elementary and middle school grades (Kindergarten through Grade 8) and working as a Learning Resource Teacher.

Following a wonderful sabbatical in 2022 spent travelling through Greece, Curaçao, Mexico, and Cuba, I took on a new role in 2023 as the Director of Education for a small Indigenous community in Sioux Narrows, Ontario. For nearly three years, I had the privilege of learning about Ojibwe culture and supporting local families.

While I deeply valued that experience, the extensive travel—especially during winter—led me back to my true passion: working directly with students in the classroom.

I feel deeply blessed to join the Beautiful Saviour family this year and look forward to getting to know each of you and your children!

As we approach the new school year, BSLS has some exciting new additions to our faculty.

First up is our Vice Principal, Ray Houssin. We are very thankful Mr. Houssin has joined us to be the school's first ever Vice Principal, and we are looking forward to what he will add to BSLS.

Below is a message he has provided so you can get to know him a little before the first day of school.

"My name is Ray Houssin, and I am grateful for the opportunity to serve as Vice Principal at Beautiful Saviour Lutheran School.

I live in Birds Hill, Manitoba, with my wife Melanie, and our children. Our family attends Eastview Community Church in East St. Paul, where we are actively involved in church life.

I hold a Bachelor of Education from Brandon University and a Master of Education from the University of Manitoba. My career in education has included teaching and leadership roles in both public and private faith-based settings, including K–12 schools, the University of Winnipeg, and international Canadian school settings.

Throughout my career, my commitment has remained focused on meeting the spiritual, academic, social and emotional needs of each child, building positive relationships within the community, and supporting meaningful and engaging learning experiences.

My faith is central to who I am and how I serve. A verse that continues to guide me is Romans 11:36: “For from Him and through Him and to Him are all things. To Him be glory forever.”

I look forward to getting to know the students, staff, and families of Beautiful Saviour Lutheran School and serving this community with humility, faith, and purpose."

For the first time in a long time, we just redid the entire BSLS website (bsls.ca). With our high school expansion date closing in, and the break from classes, it was the right time—and it needed it.

We still have some more minor tweaks to go with design, and we'll constantly be updating the website content as the next school year approaches and goes on, so watch for that.

We're really excited for you to take a look, and hopefully you can find all your BSLS information a little easier.

It's almost been 4 months since we started construction on our high school expansion—the first Lutheran high school in Manitoba.

If you've come by the school this summer you've seen how busy it is inside and out.

The excitement continues to build day-by-day, and we are starting to see things taking shape.

Who knew summer could be this fun!?🏇 ☀️

Yesterday, for Animal Week, BSLS daycare and summer programs had their very own petting zoo at school.

They got to see firsthand a pony, donkey, bunny, some goats, and more too! All animals had water and shade to stay cool on this hot day.

What better way to learn about animals then to be with them yourself!

Our junior kindergarten program starting September 2026, still has spots remaining at our St. Mary's location.

This unique program features a strong STEAM (Science Technology Engineering Arts Math) focus, with hands on learning centres and experiences.

Summertime is well under way at BSLS and so is the fun!

It's been a busy and entertaining first couple of weeks with our Birchdale summer program.

Even through the mix of rain and scorching heat, every day has been enjoyable.

We've made volcanoes and oobleck for Science Week, created a personalized nail salon, saw a magician, and so much more! The good thing is, we're just getting started😎

Last Tuesday, on the final day of school, Mr. Plischke's spent his last day at BSLS. He is now retired! We miss him already😭

In his two years at BSLS, Mr. Plischke taught with expertise and discipline that positively challenged students to become the best versions of themselves.
The hard work and dedication he put into the development of his students and the school will be missed.

We wish Mr. Plischke a well-earned, enjoyable retirement.
