To honour Earth Day this Wednesday, our Grade 8 students took their French learning outdoors for a power-free lesson! ☀️
The sunshine made it the perfect setting to practice French directions vocabulary. Students got creative by drawing their own mazes and then challenged their classmates by giving directions entirely in French.
Très bien, huitième année!

We are proud to celebrate our students who recently participated in the Bison Regional Science Fair and the Manitoba Schools Science Symposium 2026. Their hard work, creativity, and curiosity truly shone through as they presented their projects with confidence and enthusiasm. Our students were recognized for their outstanding efforts, earning both medals and special awards in recognition of their scientific inquiry and innovation.
Congratulations to all participants for representing our school so well and demonstrating such dedication to learning!
We would also like to make a special mention of Gian (Grade 7) who will be representing our school at the Canada-Wide Science Fair, taking place in Edmonton from May 23–30, 2026. This is an exceptional achievement and a wonderful opportunity to showcase her passion for science on a national stage. We are incredibly proud of this accomplishment and wish her continued success as she prepares for this exciting event.

HGS Science Fair is a wonderful celebration of curiosity, creativity, and innovation. Our Kindergarten to Grade 3 students proudly showcased displays based on their chosen science themes—Weather in the World, Living Things, Animal Life Cycles, and Structures and Materials—demonstrating their growing understanding of the world around them.
Meanwhile, students in Grades 4 to 8 presented impressive experiments that highlighted their skills in the scientific inquiry process—asking thoughtful questions, conducting investigations, analyzing results, and drawing meaningful conclusions.
Our Grade 7 and 8 students also took on the exciting challenge of the Dragons’ Den project, where they applied the design process and problem-solving skills to develop innovative solutions to real-world problems, confidently pitching their ideas to judges.
We extend our heartfelt gratitude to our parents, teachers, staff, and judges for their continued support and guidance in making this event a success. Congratulations to all participants and award winners of this year’s Science Fair! Continue to stay curious, keep exploring, and never stop asking questions about the world around you.

This weekend wrapped up the MCSAA Basketball season for our Tier 1 Basketball teams.
The Tier 1 Girls worked their way to the finals against St. Gerard but unfortunately came up short losing 56-51. Despite the intense and loud crowd, our girls managed to battle to the end leaving it all on the court. They finished 2nd in our league. Next up is Provincials!
The Tier 1 Boys gave it their all but were unable to make it past the semi-finals. This placed them at the 4th place spot in our league. Well done boys!
Thank you to all the coaches, students, parents, and families who came out to support our athletes this weekend.

With it being the last session for the Red Group, there was a fun little prize for two lucky participants. Congratulations to the winners!
