Do you live with or work with people who get angry, intimidate, cry, yell, grab, hit, kick, bite? Do you live with or work with people who get quiet, nervous, easily triggered? Do you feel scared, frustrated, uncertain, or at a loss about what to do? WEVAS® is for everyone.

Interactive, activity-based training/ courses/ works

hops that are relevant for anyone who interacts with people who may become anxious, agitated, aggressive, and/or assaultive. WEVAS® teaches differentiated communication strategies that are targeted to match psychological states. The appropriate strategy can be used to encourage people to return to their attentive / competent state. Training of Trainers / Facilitators: 5 days
Workshops / Courses for participants: 2 or 3 day formats, 3-hour modules

WEVAS® was developed on Treaty One Territory of the Anishinaabeg, Cree, Oji-Cree, Dakota and Dene peoples and the homeland of the Red River Metis. WEVAS® respects the treaties that were made on these territories and acknowledges the harms and mistakes of the past and is moving forward in partnership with all peoples, Indigenous and settlers alike. We are inspired to celebrate the life force of Dr. Neil Butchard, co-founder of Working Effectively with Violent & Aggressive States (WEVAS Incorporated), who left this realm to continue his influence via other states of being on January 28, 2025.

In processing Neil’s passing, I wrote a long article about him and how he touched my life and the lives of so many others. I put it aside for a time and when I returned to it, I realized that it felt like it was written from a separation, a place of external admiration and discourse, rather than from a unification energy of the spirit of oneness. I stopped and asked Neil directly what he wanted to say. This is what surfaced:

I am passionate about education and compassion as these were denied to so many.

I offer encouragement to all those who suffer difficulty in their lives. I ask you to keep going. I want you to know that you can do it. I want you to know that you are loved, that you are worthy. You will find it within yourself to grow into who are you and to embrace your true self, your spirit of loving kindness.

Nature is healing. Spend time with nature and allow it to embrace you. Nature is the great equalizer. It teaches us many lessons. We can be silent and listen. The lessons surround us in the stillness of being. Our true selves shine through.
