MKO Congratulates University of Winnipeg Grad Holly Spence from God’s Lake Narrows First Nation!

Holly said "I am proud to be graduating with my 4-year Bachelor of Business Administration, majoring in Operations and Supply Chain Management, from the University of Winnipeg. This journey has not been easy, but it has been worth it. As a mother of two beautiful daughters, I have balanced school, work, parenting, and many challenges along the way. I am proud to say that I persevered.
I am especially proud to be the first person in my family to earn a post-secondary degree. This achievement is not only for me, but also for my daughters, my family and my home community of God’s Lake Narrows First Nation. I am grateful for everyone who supported me, encouraged me, and believed in me throughout this journey."

Holly will be continuing her education at the University of Winnipeg in a Master’s program starting in Fall 2026. Her goal is to build a career in sustainable Indigenous development, with a focus on supporting First Nations communities through public service, policy, procurement, economic development, and community-led growth. She plans to use her education and experience to give back to Mantou Sakahigan, God’s Lake Narrows First Nation, and to other Nations across Canada.

Congratulations to Dr. Teri Fiddler of Shoal Lake 40 First Nation on being one of the first-ever recipients of an Honorary Doctor of Medicine from the Northern Ontario School of Medicine.

Dr. Fiddler has dedicated many years to advancing Indigenous health, healing, and community wellness across Northern Ontario through her advocacy, leadership, and support of culturally grounded care initiatives.
