CEO Manitoba hosted the 2019 Elevator Pitch Competition on January 18, 2019. Winnipeg's most exciting new commercial real estate property, True North Square, played host to eager entrepreneurs vying for the $1750 cash purse. Competitors had 60 seconds to pitch our all-star judges on a compelling new business. Winnipeg celebrities Rob Tetrault and Jay Myers certainly had their work cut out for them trying to narrow down a top three from a phenomenally bright field of competitors. //
Judges:
Rob Tetrault - Head of Tetrault Wealth Advisory Group //
Jason Myers - CMO of Bold Commerce //
The CEO Manitoba Elevator Pitch Competition is an annual event, which would not be possible without the support of our amazing partners:
Stu Clark Centre for Entrepreneurship //
North Forge //
EO Winnipeg //
World Trade Centre Winnipeg //
Payworks //
Leo Prestte //
Good Earth Coffee House //
A very special thanks to True North Square for hosting and to Bentall Kennedy for assisting with coordination.

Our fearless CEO leaders absolutely crushed logistical preparation: We pushed off from Drake exactly on schedule at 9am on the dot! Our bus driver, Lawrence, was an absolute beauty and put up with all sorts of madness throughout the day (wouldn't be a Startup Crawl without it). Our stops throughout the morning were all fantastic and we continued to be exactly on time, or even several minutes ahead of schedule for most of the day.
We started things off at the Asper School of Business, where the crawlers enjoyed breakfast while hearing from CEO Manitoba, Stu Clark Centre for Entreprenuership, and Technology Transer Office representatives.
Next up, was Bold Commerce, where Sara gave us a fantastic tour, complete with a scavenger hunt and prizing.
Our bus then set sights on Innovation Alley. The group heard from North Forge, Futurpreneur Canada, Red River College Ace Space, Bit Space Development, and the North Forge Fabrication Lab.
From their, we headed to World Trade Centre Winnipeg, to enjoy an enlightening presentation and lunch.
Once we'd filled our stomachs, it was off to The Stone Angel Brewing Company, where we heard an inspiring panel discussion on career development, innovation, and intrapreneurship from Palliser Furniture.
Next it was pedal to the metal to Taylor Mcaffery Law Offices, were we learned the do's and dont's of entrepreneurship from a legal perspective.
Unfortunately, our pedal to the metal wasn't enough, and the madness of the White Out street party prevented us from making it to SkipTheDishes. This is always one of our favourite stops and we're planning a rain date - message us for details if you'd like to join :)
And finally, it was over to Regus coworking spaces on St. Mary Ave for some dinner, drinks, and some speaches from our partners and council. Outgoing president, Alison Lea had us all ears sharing a wealth of Winnipeg startup knowledge throughout the day, and her final speech did not disappoint. She gracefully passed the helm over to Harjinder Sidhu, whose eager acceptance had the group ready to stream into the streets for the White Out party.
Thanks to all the partners, hosts, and participants for making this year's Startup Crawl such an amazing event!
