(ILDI) is a non-profit organization established to build leadership capacity in Indigenous people. We are run by Indigenous people and directed by a volunteer board reflecting the diversity of the indigenous community. This board identifies specific training required to produce able and accomplished leaders. What do we do? While some people may be born to leadership, most of us only acquire over t

ime the experience, education, skills and qualities characteristic of strong community leaders, ILDI develops those leadership attributes. How Does ILDI Deliver Training? ILDI has over thirty facilitators in Manitoba (another 40 across Canada) who are trained to deliver our executive training either on their own or in partnership with a university or other service provider. Facilitators are certified by the Professional Trainer Accreditation Program at The Institute of Professional Management. It is a certification body which was incorporated in the province of Ontario in 1984 with the mandate to ensure Canada’s professionals acquire the skills needed to train in today's changing environment. ILDI facilitators are members in the Canadian Professional Trainers Association. (CPTA) The Institute is a certified educational body registered with Human Resources and Skills Development Canada, and offers nationally recognized accreditation programs. Why use ILDI Indigenous Professional Facilitators? ILDI Facilitators know our communities and the challenges faced by Aboriginal people in their pursuit of good governance. Most have grown up in First Nations, Metis or Inuit communities and understand the needs and requirements of our communities and the development of our people. ILDI Facilitators have the qualifications and the compulsion to build the capacity of Aboriginal people. Who Should Take ILDI Training? Our commitment is to leaders – typically band Chiefs, band councillors, elected Metis leaders, executives, senior management and leaders of Indigenous and non-indigenous organizations, administrators, youth, woman, and elders who have identified specific training requirements. What type of training does ILDI deliver? ILDI delivers Community Planning sessions, Strategic Planning, Mediation, Negotiation and Conflict Resolution, Governance Requisites for Leaders, Accountability and Performance Reporting, Board Training and Board Membership. There are many other sessions that ILDI delivers in partnership with universities in Canada and the United States. Some of these sessions include; How Ottawa Works with Carleton University, Nation Building Leadership Conference & Economic Policy, the Harvard Project on American Indian Economic Development. Can ILDI Customize Training? Through our customized training communities can identify their training needs and ILDI can modify our training or access training through our partnerships with educational institutions in Canada and the United States. For example, we may engage a university to provide courses in self-governance….a private consultant to provide training in effective negotiation skills…or a senior civil servant to speak on legislative protocol.

ILDI is proud to announce a new Indigenous-to-Indigenous Treaty partnership with Rise Global (Aotearoa New Zealand), bringing the internationally accredited TAHI Indigenous Coaching Programme to Winnipeg in October 2026.

This exciting partnership will create an opportunity for a cohort of 12 Indigenous women to experience a transformational leadership and coaching journey grounded in Indigenous values, worldviews, and reciprocal learning.

Founded in 2015 by Māori leader and ICF Professional Certified Coach Rachel Rachel Petero, Rise Global is a 100% Māori women-owned enterprise with a global reputation for delivering Indigenous leadership, coaching, and business programmes that honour culture, identity, ceremony, and collective wellbeing.

TAHI is the first Indigenous coaching framework in the world to receive international accreditation through the International Coaching Federation (ICF)—offering participants a rare opportunity to experience both Indigenous-led and internationally recognised leadership development.

More than a coaching programme, TAHI is a space for Indigenous leaders to deepen self-awareness, strengthen leadership capability, and grow in ways that create lasting impact for whānau, communities, and future generations.

This partnership reflects the power of Indigenous nations investing in each other—sharing knowledge, building leadership, and weaving stronger futures together.

ILDII is accepting applications for our 2026 Indigenous Carpentry Program.

📅 Program Dates: May 20 – October 9, 2026
📍 Delivered in Winnipeg, MB

This hands-on training program supports participants in developing practical carpentry skills, gaining industry experience, and preparing for meaningful careers in the trades.

Eligibility Requirements:
- Indigenous (First Nations, Métis, or Inuit)
- Must be eligible for funding
- Preference given to individuals who are unemployed or underemployed
