At the beginning of the month, four of our community dietitians went to Montreal for the Nourishing Futures Forum hosted by Coalition for Healthy School Food, Équiterre, and Farm to Cafeteria Canada. Take a look at a snapshot of their forum experience.

Last Tuesday, one of our community dietitians had the pleasure of attending the Montreal Island field trip at the Nourishing Futures forum.

Take a look at some of the amazing food initiatives in that area.

We love hearing what teachers say about the food program at their school, and we think you will too!

Stevenson-Britannia School supports student nutrition through daily breakfast programming, classroom fruit bowls, and a lunch cart offering fresh vegetables, fruits, and other nutritious items to students in their classroom.

The program is made possible through the efforts of school staff and community members who help prepare, organize, and deliver food throughout the day.

Thank you to the Stevenson-Britannia team for welcoming the Child Nutrition Council of Manitoba into their school and for the wonderful work they do to support students throughout the school year.

We were lucky to visit Shawenim Abinoojii School while they were doing land based education with Animikii Niko Ochicahk Lodge. Students were making bear grease popcorn, and will use the bear grease to make a skin balm.

Besides participating in land based education, students are able to access their daily breakfast and lunch program. The school strives to include a variety of fruits and vegetables, whole grains, and protein foods including beans. They offer things like cereal, yogurt, granola, hard boiled eggs, avocado toast, smoothies with spinach, oatmeal, wraps, soup, sandwiches, and power bowls.
