Something to add to your hockey toolbox 🏒 🧰
Eliminating the opponents stick and body while maintaining puck possession.
This skill is great as it can be used in all areas of the ice and in many game situations, whether it’s driving the net, battling in the corner and creating space to get out of the corner, and more!
Coaches, add this skill to puck protection drills to add more to the drill 🙌

Details matter. Pace matters. Confidence matters.
Proud of the work these girls put in every session!
Save this for your next stickhandling/passing session!

- 2 puck stick handling
- 3 puck stickhandling
- 2 puck partner stick handling + passing
- 2 puck partner stick handing + passing + drop passes
- 2 puck partner fwd/bed passes
2) Neutral Zone Multi Puck Drill (Slide 7)
- Progress to add another puck exchange with a coach on the goal line before the shot
3) In Zone One Touch passing drill (Slide 8)
4) In Zone Multipuck passing drill (Slide 9)
Small-area touches, punch turns, quick puck movement, and agility before playing a 1v1.
The first part of the drill, we started off with the same beginning sequence and had the player accelerate down into the zone with speed for a 1v0, working on shooting from different angles. We then progressed to make it a 1v1 to mix in
in skills with game-like situations. This makes the drills fun, allows players to build confidence with puck handling and passing, and adds compete to the drill with the 1v1.
Low to high passes. East to west passes.
Quick shots. Shots off the pass. One-timers. Stepping into shots.
Slowed things down this session and gave the girls a chance to get a ton of quality reps — both stationary and moving. We focused on refining technique throughout the skate and building confidence through repetition.
Every player can cradle a puck and shoot. But the goal is to expand their toolbox and make them comfortable scoring in different ways and from different situations. The more confident they are with different shot types, the more dangerous they become offensively in games.
As a coach, don’t be afraid to slow things down and revisit the basics. That’s where confidence and habits are built.
