[HILDIE] LEAD. 9 to 12 years old, white female. Must be blonde or willing to dye hair blonde. A street-savvy, feral child. Rough around the edges. A daydreamer who doesn’t take bull from anyone. For most of her life, Hildie and her father have been on the run from her family and abusive mother, living motel to motel. In addition to having epilepsy, Hildie is also starting to discover a strange power to heal that she suspects her father might also have. Throughout the film, Hildie embarks on a coming-of-age journey to better understand both her father and herself.
NOTE: We are looking for young actors who are able to listen, be present with their scene partner, and deliver a deep, emotional performance. Nothing cutesy or overly polished. Role includes a kissing scene with male actor her age, as well as mature language. Actress must be comfortable in the water/a strong swimmer, as underwater filming is required. Scenes will be filmed under the supervision of a qualified Stunt Coordinator and Certified Lifeguard. Required for approx 25 days of shooting
[GLOVER] LEAD. 10 to 12 years old, Black male. Sensitive and thoughtful beneath his tough-guy veneer. Glover is protective of Hildie and considers himself to be her boyfriend (or at least he wants to be, though Hildie is not so sure). At Hildie’s urging, Glover stows away in the cargo bed of her dad’s truck and leaves with them on a cross-country journey. Feeling unwanted by his family, Glover is happy to leave his city life behind and travel into the unknown with Hildie. Required for approx. 23 days of shooting
[SAMARA] SUPPORTING. 25 to 45 years old, all ethnicities female. Actress with Down Syndrome. The leader of a group of travelers who live their lives on the open road. Samara is charismatic, intelligent, mischievous… and clairvoyant. A talented artist, she predicts the future through detailed drawings. In the end, we realize she is far more cunning than she first presents herself. Samara leads a plot to drown Hildie and Glover in an attempt to provoke Sonny into unleashing the darker side of his power. Required for approx. 12 days of shooting
[TRUCK STOP] SUPPORTING. 40s to 60s years old, all ethnicities male. Actor who uses a wheelchair. Weathered, gravelly-voiced, and probably a heavy smoker, Truck Stop is one of Samara’s henchman. A former long-haul trucker, Truck Stop is gentle, good-natured, loving, and often reads to Hildie. However, he can be prone to violent outbursts after too many beers. He is one of the primary forces that seduces Hildie into trusting the group. In the end, he is part of the plot to drown Hildie and Glover.
NOTE: Some fight choreography required. Bonus if actor can play guitar. Required for approx. 8 days of shooting
[BILL THE COOK] SUPPORTING 40s to 70s years old, all ethnicities male. Actor who identifies as blind or partially sighted. A former short-order cook at a greasy spoon, Bill is now the cook for the group of travelers who are his closest friends. Light-hearted and personable, he always has a kind word for everyone. The type of person who makes friends with anyone he meets. He seems to have a clairvoyant ability to see people despite his blindness and ends up befriending Hildie and Glover.
NOTE: Bonus if actor can play guitar or other instrument. Required for approx. 8 days of shooting
[CASSUS] SUPPORTING. 5 to 7 years old, white male. Frail and timid, Cassus is Aurora’s son who is non-verbal. He is a quiet child, wary of strangers, who often keeps to himself. He has a propensity for lashing out when he feels unsure or cornered. Like Aurora, Cassus has never felt as though he belonged anywhere in this world. However, he has a strong affinity for Sonny, who he sees as a kindred spirit and father figure. Required for approx. 10 days of shooting
[GYN] SUPPORTING. Any age, male. Actor with Albinism. Gyn is one of Samara's henchmen and lives on the farm with Sandar and Chimera.

What do I say about someone I have known more than forty years? I learned so much as an actor and as a person from Nancy. We first shared the stage together in The Apple Tree. She was "Ella" to my "George". It was the beginning of a lifelong artistic friendship.
She demanded authenticity from you, both on and off stage. She encouraged you to raise your own bar. She made me a better actor as well as a better human being.
I was so blessed to have her teaching at the school for a number of years. We had many discussions on how to provide our students with a better learning environment. She had no patience for ego. She was a sensitive, loving, caring, nurturing individual whose envelopment of independence was inspiring. She raised five kids on her own and still managed to keep her personal and professional pursuits in balance.
These last few years were spent having monthly lunches with our First Mondays Group. I so looked forward to driving with her and getting caught up on our lives and then discussing the guest speaker we had had at our lunch.
Intellectually, she was formidable. Emotionally, she was accessible and her love and support was always available.
Dearest Nancy, I will miss you terribly.
