Dear Indigenous Faculty, Staff, and Students,
The College of Nursing is pleased to invite Indigenous faculty, staff, and students to a special engagement session with Dr. Leigh Chapman, Canada's Federal Chief Nursing Officer.

Dr. Chapman will be visiting Manitoba and has expressed a strong interest in meeting with Indigenous nursing students, faculty, and staff of the college of college of nursing. This gathering will provide an opportunity for Indigenous faculty, staff, and students to participate in meaningful dialogue with Dr. Chapman, share their experiences in nursing and health care, and discuss priorities, opportunities, and challenges facing Indigenous communities and the nursing profession in Manitoba.

Time: 1:30pm - 3:30pm
Location: Room 108, St. John's College
We encourage all Indigenous members of the College of Nursing community to attend and contribute their voices to this important conversation. Light refreshments will be provided.

🧡 Orange Shirt Day 2026

The College of Nursing invites students, faculty, staff, alumni, and community members to join us as we come together to honour Residential School Survivors, remember the children who never returned home, and reflect on our shared responsibility toward truth, reconciliation, and meaningful action.

This year's event will feature a keynote address from Michelle Monkman, an Orange Shirt Day Walk, cultural performances, student reflections, and a community feast.

This Nursing Week, I took the time to remember who I do this for. We all come from different walks of life, and many First Nations people like myself face unique barriers on the journey into healthcare. Despite those challenges, we continue striving for change for ourselves and our communities.

These people in my life have shaped my nursing journey from high school to where I am today, and I carry their support with me every step of the way.
