On June 6th, 2026, we proudly celebrated a milestone in MILSA's history at the first annual Graduation Blanketing Ceremony.
Together, we honoured 17 graduating Indigenous law students who were nominated by their peers in recognition of their outstanding leadership, advocacy, and contributions throughout their law school journey. Each graduate has helped strengthen our community, uplifted those around them, and leaves a lasting legacy at Robson Hall.
In addition to the graduates, we also honoured three Robson Hall faculty members selected by the graduating class whose mentorship, guidance, and unwavering support have made a lasting impact. Their dedication to fostering student success and advancing Indigenous legal education has helped shape the next generation of Indigenous legal professionals and academics.
Thank you to the graduates, their families, Elders, faculty, sponsors, and everyone who joined us to celebrate this special occasion. It was an honour to recognize your achievements and wrap each graduate in a blanket as a symbol of respect, accomplishment, and the community that stands behind you.
Congratulations to the Class of 2026! We cannot wait to see the impact you will make as the next generation of Indigenous lawyers. 🤍🧡🩵🪶
"Wherever we go, and wherever we end up, I know that we will all be doing great things. Because we already have done great things during our time at Robson Hall, and we are just getting started." - Sarah Shuttleworth, Robson Hall Indigenous Class of 2026 Representative

The Manitoba Indigenous Law Students Association (MILSA) is proud to host an Indigenous Graduation Blanketing Ceremony to honour Indigenous graduates from the Faculty of Law.
🗓 June 6, 2026
⏰ 10:00 AM
As part of the ceremony, 20 blankets will be gifted to graduating Indigenous 3L students in recognition of the impact they’ve made during their time at Robson Hall. We aim to celebrate students who have contributed to the Robson Hall community, supported Indigenous communities, and shown leadership within the broader legal field.
We invite you to nominate an Indigenous student who you believe should be recognized. Self-nominations are welcome.
